Polaroid 600 One Classic camera

Polaroid_600

The death of the Polaroid camera has been greatly exaggerated – it's just moved from the high street to more niche retailers, selling everything from the classic to the quirky – and the Polaroid 600 One Classic certainly belongs to that first group.

It's a modern update of the classic Polaroid camera, but still looking very much 'of an age'. It opens as and when you need it (to protect both the flash and lens), producing instant images using the Polaroid 600 colour film (still widely available to buy). There's also a focus-free lens, built-in auto flash and an LCD screen showing how many images you've got left.

Available from the Polapremium website, you can pick one up for £65.

Techlink Opod – space age stand for your TV

Opod

TV stands tend to be fairly dull/functional items, hidden away in a dark corner of the room. That's not the case with the Techlink Opod.

Available in black, white and this very bold red, it's designed very much in the space age style, with a tulip-like base, gloss finish and a build that's capable of holding a big-screen TV as well as your DVD player and other add-ons.

You can pick it up from Comet, priced just under £200.

Anglepoise Type 75 energy-saving lamp

Anglepoise75

The Anglepoise Type 75 dates back to 1969, but the latest version of this classic lamp offers something very relevant to 2009 – an energy-saving bulb.

Aside from that, this is very much the classic three-spring lamp, offering all the direction you expect from Anglepoise (total reach is 70cm), a rounded/weighted base for style and stability and a more rounded head.

Take your pick between a black or silver finish, both retailing for £68.

Oliver Goldsmith “Hep” Sunglasses

094607_pop

The Cold War exhibition at the V&A has finished, but you can still buy the related products at the online shop. Amongst a selection of original Oliver Goldsmith’s designs are these “Hep Sunglasses”.

These sunglasses were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1963 film “Charade”, a film where Ms Hepburn’s wardrobe is as exciting as the plot. Like other Oliver Goldsmith designs, they are made completely by hand, which is some justification for the price.

They cost £400 from the V & A Shop.
