Gola limited edition Roy of the Rovers sports bags

Gola_roy

Remember Roy of the Rovers? He was the comic strip footballer Roy Race, leading the line from the 1950s through to the 90s for Melchester Rovers – until he lost a foot in a helicopter crash, ending the longest (and possibly most illustrious) playing career in the game's history.

Roy might be ancient history, but his influence lives on – with these Gola limited edition Roy of the Rovers sports bags. Yes, those are the colours of Melchester Rovers, available as a 'Melchester bag', 'Gym bag' or 'Race bag', all effectively re-runs of other Gola bags, but sure to get you knowing looks from fellow fans of the football legend.

Exclusively available from ASOS, you can pick one up for between £25 and £30.

Eileen Gray modernist day bed

Grey_day

Another modernist classic from the workshops of ClassiCon – the Eileen Gray day bed.

It's been around since 1925, designed for a day of laziness for the affluent of the era – and still remaining a stylish and functional item for the hip and cool of 2009. For your (not inconsiderable) money, you get a base of chromium-plated steel tubing, a beechwood frame with rubber webbing and a loose mattress with Bonell-spring interior, covered in a choice of fabric or leather.

Prices start at £3,800.

Lip 1970s Big Fridge watch

Lip_bigfrdige

A 1970s design updated for 2009 – the Lip 1970s Big Fridge watch.

The original watch was the Fridge, designed by Roger Tallon in 1975 for Lip, with the strap sandwiched between the front and back of the case, while a minimalist face and bold chunky hands are guaranteed to catch the eye.

As you might have guessed, the Big Fridge offers super-sized time keeping, boosting the face to 50mm x 38mm for added impact. You can pick one up in various colour schemes for $395 from Watchismo – or if you want the smaller original, you can pick one of those up for $355.

Saint Tropez Beaded Flapper Dress

Saint tropez

Twenties and thirties inspiration has been taking off on the high street for some months, and the flapper style keeps coming. This Saint Tropez dress is a great choice of retro eveningwear, with occasion and sleek style.

The beading and scalloped hem make this a great choice of occasionwear, while the art deco inspired shapes and lines hold true to its pre-WWII inspiration. Avoiding the often costume-like nature of twenties homage dresses, this is a glamourous choice that's free from aging.

It's £83.19 now from Oli online.
