Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye house – made from Lego

Savoye

We rarely feature things on Retro To Go that you can't go out and buy – and this version of Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye house is one of that small number. You'll have to make it yourself in Lego.

This version was made by Matija Grguric, a Lego take on the classic modernist house Villa Savoye, designed by Le Corbusier and built between 1928 and 1929. You'll find the original in Poissy, just outside of Paris and if you want to compare it to the original, you can view images of that here.

Then all you need is a pile of Lego, some patience, an eye for detail and plenty of spare time. If you manage it, send us a picture.

Verner Panton 1960s Dodecahedron candle holders

Panton_candle

For all the big items we buy, sometimes it's those little details that have the most impact – like the Verner Panton Dodecahedron candle holders for example.

Designed back in 1964 and available once more from Unique of Copenhagen, these stylish clear glass vases are available in three sizes (small, medium and large), with each shaped like a dodecahedron (12 sides for the uninitiated – although there's obviously space at the top for adding your light).

Prices start at £34.

Missoni Voile Beanbag

Missoni_voilebean

The beanbag has come along way since it first found favour in hippie homes in the late 1960s. Designer brand Missoni have given the humble beanbag a suitably upmarket makeover in the form of the Voile Beanbag.

It features a bold Missoni pattern of brightly coloured pansies, which still retains a retro look. However, the price puts this product firmly in the deluxe category, costing £413.

The Missoni Voile Beanbag is available to buy online from Dotmasion.

“Movie Time” Popcorn Cart

Comfort_2036_88978301 If I had room in my house for a dedicated film screening room, I would definitely be adding the Movie Time Popcorn Cart to the furnishings.

The cart has been designed to look just like the old-fashioned popcorn carts once found in cinemas, but has been specifically created by Nostalgia Electrics for home use. As well as adding an authentic old-time movie theatre look to your room, it can make up to 1.5 gallons of popcorn in around 5 minutes.

It is available to buy online form Comfort House for $360.

Miu Miu oversized retro sunglasses

Miu miu

It's around this time of year that the big design houses start reminding us what Spring/Summer dressing is all about, and in accessories that means the advent of brand new sunglasses. Oversized retro numbers for the ladies aren't going anywhere, and Miu Miu's new pairs are the perfect vintage homage.

These two pairs are new in at ASOS and take obvious inspiration from the sixties and seventies. Their seventies pair (left) have an added angular detail that makes them a truly genuine reproduction. With the use of classic tortoiseshell on both sets of frames, these make classics that avoid datedness easily.

They retail at £107.66 each.

Ginny H Marilyn Dress coming soon at Neiman Marcus

Ginny h

Neiman Marcus have already begun previewing this Spring's designerwear, and there are some real treats worth looking forward to. This dress, by lesser known New York designer Ginny H, is a vibrant, colourful way to say a welcome goodbye to the Winter months.

The Marilyn dress combines a flirty, babydoll shape that's reminiscent of Mary Quant in its youthfulness, with a fantastic retro print. The orange based colour scheme is the firs of many signs that the sixties and seventies favourite shade is going to be big again in 2009.
