Vimto limited edition centenary bottle

Vimto

Whilst having a coffee in a local cafe today, we noticed these Vimto limited edition centenary bottles on the shelf. We picked one up from there, but you can also buy them online.

Vimto was born in Manchester in 1908 and the company has offered that original fruit-based cordial (made to a secret recipe) for 100 years. It’s now back in the original ‘crock’ (pot) bottle for a limited time – essentially, until the 6,000 bottles made run out.

Whether you love or hate the drink, this is a great piece of vintage design – and as they are numbered, it might be a shrewd investment too. The weighty bottles are actually made by Mawsons, who are selling them online – priced at £5.53.

Miss Selfridge Knitted Bib Dress

Selfridge_bib_dress

Navy is more than just a colour when it comes to retro fashion, as this nautical inspired winter dress clearly proves. From Miss Selfridge, this dress uses Breton stripes and bib detailing to great, and unusual, effect on a knitted winter dress.

As with most woolen frocks, this is great for casual daywear, but thanks to its fifties style wiggle shape this one can easily translate into something for the evening too.

It’s available new from Miss Selfridge for £38.

Ollie & Nic cosmetic bags

Ollie_nic_cosmetic_bags

Cosmetic bags that are well designed are a really ideal Christmas gift for a girlier recipient. Ollie & Nic‘s new range is especially worth the purchase thanks to the fact that they’re equally good looking enough to serve as handbags or purses too.

While any old thing will often do for makeup, a cosmetic bag or vanity case that you really love feels like a treat, and is a really easy gift idea for girls who aren’t so easy to buy for. Opt for vintage framed purse styles, or a ditsy print floral vanity case as shown.

“The Ladies” Plates

Ladiesplate

Designer Caroline Silfverling takes her inspiration from the past, and her love of old movies is very much apparent in “The Ladies” Plates.

The bone china plates feature black and white illustrations of glamorous pin-up girls amongst romantic roses. They will add a touch of glamour to your table and it almost seems a shame to cover the design with food.

They cost £120 for a set of four plates from Rockett St George.
