Seventies style trench coat from La Redoute

La_redoute

Faux leather can often be tricky territory, but whether you’re vegan or just don’t have the bank balance for the real thing, a good fake is a great find. This La Redoute faux leather coat is a pretty good looking alternative, and it’s got seventies styling to boot.

Looking like something befitting of Cagney and Lacey, in a great way, this trench is simply styled and lets the chocolate brown speak for itself. An ideal coat for winter that will translate with formal or casual looks.

It’s available online from La Redoute for £55.

Jørgen Gammelgaard 1960s Tip Top pendant lights

Tiptop_2

I think we’ve used the term ‘stylish simplicity’ on numerous occasions – but we make no apologies for using it again when describing the Jørgen Gammelgaard Tip Top pendant lights.

An often copied design (we picked up something similar from Habitat a few years back), the Tip Top pendant was introduced by Pandul back in 1968 and still looks the part in 2008. Essentially it’s based around a large aluminium diffuser, available in black, white and ‘natural’, with a choice of size and the option to use high for lighting up a room or lower to focus on something (like a dining table).

SCP sell them in the UK, with prices starting at £154.99.

Nelda’s Vintage Clothing for Men and Women

Neldas

Vintage clothing shops, more than any retailers, live and die by their stock, so finding one that you can consider a safe bet is nigh on impossible. The best ones to bookmark, though, are those with ample stock that can ensure something for everyone almost all of the time.

Nelda’s Vintage Clothing is one such purveyor of vintage finds. The online shop has one of the most impressive volumes of vintage stock I’ve seen in a while, and there’s both menswear and ladieswear, as well as accessories. It might not all be your thing, but there’s little doubting there’s a good chance there’ll be something ideal.

Shown above is a 1950s dress and some 1970s Men’s boots.

Hans Wegner oak double day bed for Getama

Wegner_double

If you’re on the look out for some period Danish furniture, the Danish Homestore is well worth a look – a treasure trove of mid-century originals, including many designs that have never been re-produced.

Typical is this Hans Wegner oak double day bed for Getama. As you can guess, this is a sofa, probably dating from the 1960s, offering plenty of stylish space by day  and if you pull it out, a double bed for the night. The frame is made of oak and chrome, with that large ‘shelf’ at the back actually being a storage area – yes, you can keep the bedding in it until needed.

Clever design, still in excellent condition (the upholstery can be replaced via Getama) and yours for £1,195.
