Ladies occasion suits have gotten something of a bad rap of late, seemingly the sole property of slightly frumpy Mums at weddings. Thankfully, some designers have remembered how great a well crafted, feminine suit can look, and its no surprise they’re turning back the years for inspiration.

John Charles used a great big dollop of classic 1940s Hollywood style as inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2008 collection (still available in many stockists), and this dress suit is one of my favourites.
