Zanotta 1960s Throw-Away armchair

Zanotta_throw

I have no idea why the Zanotta Throw-Away armchair is so named – because at this price, the last you’ll be doing is throwing it onto the local tip.

Aside from that, this is a really cool 1960s period design from Willie Landels, producing an award-winning, box-like chair with no frame – all that bulk is from solid polyurethane, with an outer cover in choice of fabric or leather to finish things off.

Dating back to 1965 (a bit like the grainy picture above) and available once more from Zanotta, the Throw-Away armchair is yours from £1,494. A sofa version is also available, priced from £2,058.

New Maui Pink Asian Floral dress from Stop Staring!

Maui

The lovely Ms Alicia Estrada is at it again with more great designs from retro brand Stop Staring! New off the line is this showstopping Maui dress, perfect for 40s devotees and slinky pinup style rockabilly girls alike.

In a pink, asian inspired floral pattern, the fabric of this dress could speak volumes alone. Add to that the sweetheart neckline and cleverly retro wraparound waist, and there’s no fear of the sometimes trashy aspect of satin and silk.

Get yours directly from Stop Staring! online for $146.

Adelphi_satchel

For men and women, leather bags have never gone out of favour. The perrenial satchel, too, is a style which has endured long past many others, and continues to be reinvented in great ways by new designers.

This great version is by Ollie & Nic and is called their Adelphi satchel. Made from real leather with suede detailing, it’s robust as well as handsome. In a classic ‘messenger bag’ shape, this is ideal for books or everyday use.

It’s available online now for £95.

Arne Jacobsen 1950s 3302 two-seater sofa

3302

Some time back we featured the stylish 3300 easy chair by Arne Jacobsen. You might not realise that there’s also a sofa version on the market – the 3302 two-seater sofa .

Essentially it shares the same design, just extending things to accommodate two people. Indeed, there’s also a three-seater (the 3303) if you have a larger family. All were designed in 1956 for the Jacobsen-styled SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, offering up a chromed steel outer, wooden frame and ‘cold-cured’ foam for comfort.

Choose your finish in fabric or leather, with prices starting at £3,304.

Supermandolini Arcade Button badges

Arcade_badges

Supermandolini can always be relied upon to produce something cool and quirky – and these Arcade Button badges certainly fit the brief.

Indeed, if you didn’t realise they were based on old school arcade controls, they would probably pass as rather stylish pop art badges. There are 10 buttons in the set, all limited edition and handmade and each one sized at around 2.5cm.

Bag your set for 16 Euros.

Unikko Mouse Mat

Kiitosmarimekko_2025_44385445

Marimekko’s Unikko pattern is the company’s most famous design and has been used on a host of products. Personally I never tire of it and it has been put to especially good use in this Unikko Mouse Mat.

The design here has taken just one of the distinctive flowers from the pattern with the mouse mat shape cut around it.  It is a bold design that will bring a bit of cheer to a dull work desk.

It is available to buy online from a New York seller of Marimekko products, Kiitos Marimekko (kiitos meaning “thank you”). It costs $20.
