Chelsea skinhead Christmas card range from London Books

Chelsea_skinhead

Looking for something different to send through the post this Christmas? You’ll not get more ‘out there’ than by sending the Chelsea skinhead Christmas card range from London Books.

You might remember London Books from its cult crime novels (which are well worth a look too). This new departure offers up two designs of card (including the one above), complete with envelopes, featuring the messages ‘Merry Christmas from the Chelsea Youth 1970’ and ‘Happy Christmas from the Chelsea Shed’.

Anyone with an interest in street or terrace culture will love them. A pack of 1o costs £10.

Modernist-inspired Zanotta Ondina Easy Chair and Sofa

Ondina

A design inspired by modernism, but actually dating back to the 1980s – the Ondina Easy Chair and Sofa, now reissued through Zanotta.

The work of De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi and dating back to 1987, it carries more than a slight similarity to the work of Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier, with a stainless steel tubular frame holding the generously-upholstered seat, which can be finished in fabric or leather.

Prices start at £1,822 for the chair, rising to £3,509 for the sofa with leather finish.

Zanotta 1960s Throw-Away armchair

Zanotta_throw

I have no idea why the Zanotta Throw-Away armchair is so named – because at this price, the last you’ll be doing is throwing it onto the local tip.

Aside from that, this is a really cool 1960s period design from Willie Landels, producing an award-winning, box-like chair with no frame – all that bulk is from solid polyurethane, with an outer cover in choice of fabric or leather to finish things off.

Dating back to 1965 (a bit like the grainy picture above) and available once more from Zanotta, the Throw-Away armchair is yours from £1,494. A sofa version is also available, priced from £2,058.
