Oluce 1970s Joe Colombo ceiling lamp

Colombo_ceiling

A strange design, the Oluce Colombo ceiling lamp can add a quirky and slightly industrial look to a room.

Dating back to 1972 and designed (as the name suggests) by Joe Colombo, the Colombo lamp offers both direct and indirect light from adjustable aluminium reflector, with a chrome-plated stem and lacquered ceiling fixing finishing things off.

Not his best, but certainly a talking point – and yours for £331.

As well as having an understated charm, the George Nelson Tray Table is also a useful little thing.

Just think – you need a side table, an occasional table or a bedside table – well, this Tray Table covers all of that and more. Designed by Nelson back in 1949, the table has a simple adjustable mechanism to fit whatever height you require and with a choice of finish on top of the chrome frame, it should match any room too.

Print Tea Dress from Oli

Tea_dress

Tea dresses might not be at the forefront of current fashion trends anymore, but that means they can once again become a safe marker of retro loving style. The 40s and 50s dress shape is a classic, best done in florals, that’s carried off to a T by this version from Oli.

The dark material works well to take this style into the colder months, keeping it soft and feminine with the florals and chiffon style material. Shirring and a great cut allow this to fit snugly for a flattering silhouette.

It’s available online now from Oli for £50.

Arne Jacobsen’s Seagull Armchair

Seagullchair

Not as famous as the Egg or Swan Chair, Arne Jacobsen’s Seagull Armchair has a similar body shape to his Series 7 chairs but with distinctive wing-like arms.

Swedish website Modernity currently has one Seagull Armchair available for sale, a model they are dating back to 1973. It is costs just over £1000.

A quick search of the usual online retailers hasn’t brought up any re-issues or reproductions of the Seagull Armchair, so vintage may be the only way to buy it. Do let us know if you see it anywhere else. Visit the Modernity website to see the chair they have.
