Campbell’s Can-tainer thermos flask

5530417330001_med

Campbell’s Soup cans are one of those true icons of design that exist in all our collective consciousness. Rather a mundane item at first glance, it’s gone through the pop consciousness mill thanks to Andy Warhol.

If you’re an admirer of the classic design, you might want to snap up this rather sleek ‘Can-tainer’. The large Thermos flask features the usual – a screw lid and cup – meaning you could very well keep some of your favourite Campbell’s flavour inside for emergencies.

The thermos stands at 17cm and is dishwasher safe. It’ll set you back just £8 from Urban Outfitters UK.

The Happening Dress by Ossie Clark

Ossie_clark

I’ll own up and let you know that I wasn’t aware that British fashion royalty, Ossie Clark‘s label had continued after the great man’s passing. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon their latest collection, and found that it has lost none of what made the man’s designs great.

Clark’s speciality was flowing, flattering pieces for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. His mastery in cutting made his clothing some of the best made in the history of clothes design in this country. This Happening dress retains the fairytale flow of his original designs, and a fantastic print to boot.

It’s available online from My Wardrobe for £995.

TST Suede Top retro-styled trainers

Tst

We like the TST range of retro-styled trainers, indeed we featured the Split Toe range last week. And available from this week are these TST Suede Top trainers.

Again the work of Seishi Tanaka and exclusive to Oki-Ni, the Suede Top (as the name suggests) has a suede upper with contrast suede detailing and silver metal eyelets, finished off with a rubber sole with contrasting stripe and those TST logos.

Not the best shoe for wet weather, but if you spend your time away from the elements, you can pick up a pair in light or dark for £95.

Flos Biagio – 1960s table light for the seriously loaded

Biagio

Not just a light, a piece of high-end design – and the Flos Biagio table light has a price to match.

Designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1968, the Biagio’s body is carved from a single block of white Botticino marble, with light emanating from that helmet-like top and control via a switch on the cord.

We love the look, but we’re less keen on the price tag – a whopping £2,968.

Alvar Aalto anniversary Duo Vase

Duo_vase

How do you improve on a design classic? Well, when it comes to the Alvar Aalto Savoy Vase, you just add a bit of colour to produce the Duo Vase.

The original was designed back in the mid-1930s, named after the Savoy restaurant in Aalto’s hometown of Helsinki and still individually blown by Iittala. The Duo was made for the 70th anniversary of the first Aalto collection, mixing a pure white outside and deep red inside – adding a 70s vibe to a 30s icon.

Standing around 16cm tall, it sells for around £230.

Freddy & Ma retro-styled US Election tote bags

Freddy

Gone are the days of the pin badge on a donkey jacket, these days there are much more stylish ways of showing your political allegiance – like these Freddy & Ma retro-styled US Election tote bags.

Not being US citizens, we don’t have votes, so we’ll remain neutral by showing both the Democrat and Republican above, but there’s an independent and Obama if you prefer. All are similar, made of recycled cotton and with that late 60s psychedelic design on the front.

And all sell for $25 (around £13).
