Salon du Vintage – 60s/70s fashion and design exhibition in Paris

Salon

Last week we were down on writers, as two of us shot off for a week away in France. But ever the professionals, we bought a load of French design magazines, finding out about the forthcoming Salon du Vintage exhibition along the way.

Now in its second year, Salon du Vintage covers the pick of 1960s and 70s fashion, design and lifestyle items, all carefully scrutinised for period authenticity. This year the them is ‘orange’, so expect lots of plastic creations from the 60s or so exhibitors, along with a number of items available to buy at the auction – all of which will be listed in the soon-to-be-available catalogue.

The dates for your diary are the 27th and 28th September 2008, with the venue being the Espace Pierre Cardin. 1, avenue Gabriel, 75008 Paris. It runs from 10am to 7pm each day, with admission 8 Euros (or 5 Euros for students). You can find out more and see more images at the website – but note, it is in French.

Tv_cushion

Remember the days when TV actually went off? Henriette Hyldgaard does – and she’s designed the TV cushion as a fitting epitaph.

Yes, based on the screen you might have seen should you have been burning the midnight oil in the 1980s (as opposed to the clown and girl from the 70s), the cushion is produced by Neon Living, made of 100 per cent cotton and has a super-soft duck-down inner.

Sized at 40 x 60cm, it’s yours for £33.
