Habitat’s Ingvar Stool

Ingvar
Looking for a future design classic? You can pick up this Ingvar Stool from Habitat for under £20.

It’s a modern piece, but with a foot in the past – it was designed by Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, based on the stool he used in his first job, which was milking cows. Saying that. I’m guessing the original wasn’t quite as eye-catching as this.

OK, it’s not quite up there with the Alvar Aalto Artek Stool, but you can pick this one up in a red, black or natural finish for a lot less – just £19.

Sanyo’s retro-styled Xacti CG9 camcorder heads to the UK

Xacti

We got excited over it when it was announced in Japan, now we have had it confirmed that the Sanyo Xacti CG9 will hit the UK.

This cool retro-styled camcorder will be offered in slightly different colours though – silver, black or pink (as opposed to the initial colour range above). Each will capture video and 9.1-megapixel still images, with the video recording in MPEG4 to SD card, assisted by a 2.5-inch LCD screen and 5x optical zoom. You can also upload your videos from the pocket-sized device straight to sites like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook.

Expect it from mid-April, priced around £200.

Falcon 1092 Induction Cooker

1092deluxe_clsscrm If you are serious about cooking but still want something with a bit of retro style, then the Falcon 1092 Induction Cooker could be the answer.

It has a wealth of features for the gourmet chef, including seven oven settings and four grill settings. But just as importantly, it comes in a choice of eight finishes, including the Classic Cream pictured here and two new colour options of Cherry Red and Lime Green. The Cream and Cherry would fit with a 1950’s style, whilst the Lime would add a bold splash of 1970s colour to your kitchen.

It costs just under £4,000. Further information can be found on the Falcon Appliances website.

5758427560504_rose_m

Whether you remember the original 1962 version or the 90s remake, everyone’s heard of Lolita. Even the mention of the name conjures up images of the famed poster, an icon in all our memories.

Perhaps that’s exactly why Urban Outfitters are giving us all a chance to style ourselves on such a dubious role model, with these heart shaped sunglasses which even they are calling retro.

They’re available in a variety of colours for £15, though the classic red is currently sold out online. If you’re looking for the authentic shade then try in stores.
