Classic Tam Tam stool becomes an iPod audio system – the iTam Tam

Itamtam
As we have mentioned before, the Tam Tam stool by Henry Massonet is a design classic, dating back to 1968 and still in production – for around the £10 mark too. But as the Tam Tam is 40 years old, it has had a serious upgrade – becoming an audio system and getting a new name – the iTam Tam.

It’s the work of Eric Berthès for original manufacturers Branex Design, offering a slot for your iPod and iPhone, plus a connector for other MP3 players. Just hook up and play your tunes through the 2x 25w speakers, supported by a digital amplifier and with control from a remote control.

It should be available from April in a colour choice of black and white, selling for around £285.

An interesting twist on the classic Baracuta is this PF Flyers Poplin Harrington jacket.

Available in red and blue, it’s made of a soft cotton poplin fabric with a zip front, elasticated hem, button cuff and handwarmer pockets, with a more traditional collar rather than the usual Harrington two-button.

You can pick one up online, priced at £94.99.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Brno armchair for Knoll

Knoll_brno
I’m always amazed by the contemporary looks of designs from the modernist era – and this Brno armchair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is a typical example.

Originally designed back in 1930 and now available again via Knoll, its beauty is in its simplicity. A frame made from flat polished chrome, with no visible connections between the seat and frame, as well as that seat, which is made from hardwood and cushioned with high density foam. There’s also Dymetrol seat suspension to boost comfort.

If you have serious cash, but a few for cool dining chairs. If you’ve just had a minor windfall, it would make a great office chair or armchair. Whatever you use it for, it retails for £1,386.
