The Metropolis dress by Stop Staring

Metropolisch1

Looking for a dress with artistic inspiration? Then look no further than Stop Staring’s Metropolis dress. Inspired by the revolutionary Fritz Lang film of the same name, the dress aims to capture the retro-futurism of the highly stylized movie.

Whether or not it truly pulls it off, there’s certainly a nod to the film’s style, with a fusion of pre-war industrial ‘uniform’ with a later 1940s silhouette. The end result is pretty stunning.

The dress is stocked exclusively at the Red Dress Shoppe and is a big hit so get there fast. It’s currently retailing at $119.

Retro iPod Boombox – add some 80s-style bulk to your portable player

Ipod_boombox
It might look like an authentic 80s-style boombox, but look closely and you’ll see that the iPod Boombox replaces the cassette with everyone’s favourite portable player.

Yes, housed within the spring-loaded door is an iPod dock, so you can charge and playback via the controls on the front of the Boombox. It also supports USB drives, SD/MMC cards and features an AM/FM radio with 20 presets, clock/alarm, 12w speakers, equaliser, connectivity to your TV, a remote control and lots more too numerous to list.

All of that retails for $220 (£110) from Urban Outfitters. I’ve not seen it at the UK branch as yet – but might be worth popping in to check.

Marimekko Unikko Shower Curtain

Unikko_shower

It’s been around since 1964, but the Unikko design from Marimekko is still guaranteed to catch the eye – especially when it’s used in the bathroom as the Unikko Shower Curtain.

The picture is enough really, but just to add some detail, this is a polyester shower curtain (which means it’s machine washable), measuring 180 x  200cm. But note you don’t get the rings – just the curtain.

In a choice of three colourways, it will cost you £38.
