Adidas 1972 Olympia trainers

Adidas_olympia

Actually, the Adidas Olympia trainers were first seen in 1964, but the version now available in stores is based on the more commonly seen 1972 version.

Indeed, it’s more or less an exact copy of the 1972 Olympia and in the same colourway, made from a leather and nubuck combination, with perforated detail and white synthetic sole.

A pair will set you back £65.

Mod style A-line dress from Mod Clothin

Blue_dress2

What more could you want than your girl to match your scooter, eh? This retro dress is super cute and very Mod, and surprisingly it isn’t vintage.

From the Mod Clothin online store, this dress is a one off available in a UK size 12. As you can plainly see its an A-line mini so its a very faithful 60s style.

The site has tons of other vintage and retro finds for men and women to check out as well.

eBay Watch: VW Camper giclée art print

6514_1_sblVolkswagen vans are a real icon of the 1960s, especially the old ‘splitties’ as they’re affectionately known. This pop art print of a VW van on an American roadside is certainly right up my street. I might be caught up reminiscing about the old orange type 2 my family owned though.

This giclée print, a digital photograph put to canvas, is selling on eBay from a great store full of retro prints and pop art. The 24"x20" print is currently selling at £29.99.

Skateboard Mirror – make your bathroom hip

Skate_mirror

Skateboards have been around since the 40s, but have arguably never been cooler. Which is why this Skateboard Mirror will add some much needed hipness to your bathroom or hallway.

It’s on pre-order now at Purves, who don’t seem to offer a great deal of detail. What we do know is that you get a board-length mirror, wheels attached and presumably attachments on the back to hook it up without hassle.

And we know one other vital thing – the price – which is £110.

Dwell’s Vasili chair – Wassily chair copy for under £150

Vasili
I’ve just realised, we’ve never covered the modernist masterpiece that is the Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer. You can still buy one today (via Knoll I believe), but as the patent has expired, it’s also available through a host of other suppliers, who can make them, but can’t call them the Wassily or B3 chair. So here is Dwell’s Vasili chair.

Yes, not much thought gone into that, a few letters changed, but that’s enough. No change to the design though – I’ve just been studying the image here against an original and can’t see much difference outside of the colour options – light and dark brown from Dwell, on top of the traditional black.

But the same shape, with bonded leather and chromed steel used for the construction. And that cheaper price tag – £145.

Roland Edirol MP3 player – looks like an old electric shaver

Roland_mp3
It might look like something out of your dad’s drawer of old rubbish, but you know what? I actually like the Roland Edirol MP3 player.

It’s set to launch in Japan, offering something a million miles away from the iPod and its numerous lookalikes, as well as the ability to record and play back 24-bit audio, an SD/SDHC card slots, a high speed USB 2.0 port, up to 4 hours of recording time, a remote control, built in speakers (the ‘shaver head’ at the top), 70s-style controls and audio software.

No news of a price as yet – or if this will head to the UK.
