Vintage Fondue Sets

Blue_flower_fondue_ppShiny new fondue sets are easy enough to find, but for a more authentic dipping experience, you may want something with genuine 1970’s heritage. The Laundry currently have three Vintage Fondue Sets for sale in the vintage section of their website.

Picture here is the smallest and cheapest currently available, a Blue Ceramic set complete with four forks and its original box, costing £28.

The other two sets both cost £32 and have larger capacities. One is black aluminium with a geometric pattern whilst the other is the most seventies style of them all, decorated in a brown and orange floral pattern.

As they are vintage, there is just one of each available, so you need to get in there quickly if you want one for your home. Visit The Laundry to see all of the fondue sets.

Knoppa Baby Cradle

P01The Knoppa Baby Cradle is an ingenious idea for parents who want to keep their baby close by.

The cradle is suspended on a pulley system, allowing it be hung over the parent’s bed. A small push on the crib will create a gentle rocking motion which is soothing to the baby too. It can be folded flat to use as a travel cot too.

On top of all this, it is decorated with a stylish retro floral print in either brown or red, so you don’t need to compromise on style!

It costs £135 and can be bought online from Funktion Alley.

Ole Mathiesen Index watch

Mathieson
Sometimes plain and simple is so much better than all the whistles and bells – as is the case with the Ole Mathiesen Index watch.

Originally introduced in 1962, this new variation has a large silver-plated dial with simple bold graphics and a date display, along with a Swiss quartz ETA movement, stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal and a calfskin leather band.

Sold gift boxed, which is just as well with a price of $800 (around £400).

Waterloo’s Robert Crumb-designed Creem t-shirt

Creem
Cult artist/illustrator Robert Crumb was paid $50 for the Creem magazine logo. But you can pick up the Waterloo Creem t-shirt for around half that price.

If you didn’t know, Creem was a US music monthly, started in 1969 and credited with inventing the terms ‘punk rock’ and ‘heavy metal’, as well as giving early exposure to a host of legendary artists, bands and movements including The Stooges, MC5, Roxy Music, David Bowie, punk  and US college rock.

Now defunct – but you can show off your musical knowledge by wearing the t-shirt, available in three colourways as well as male/female sizes and available to pre-order now. It sells for $22.45 (around £12), with shipping from 31st March.

Orange leather handbag by Jasper Conran

20080201_089010602113_lrg

There just isn’t enough orange leather in fashion anymore, if you ask me. The classic vintage burnt orange does make an appearance once in a while, and I suspect we might see a little more of it now the fashion world is going through a seventies revival.

This oversized bag is a fantastic shade, and makes a really bold statement because of it. It’s by Jasper Conran and is available at Debenhams for £75. A great price for 100% real leather and a classic shape that mixes retro and cutting edge effortlessly.
