New Keep Calm prints – Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining and Stop And Smell The Roses

Calm_new

I don’t know about you, but we’re getting a bit tired of these retro ‘advice’ posters. What started off as something of a novelty with the Keep Calm And Carry On Poster back in mid-2006 has become a full-time industry. And the joke isn’t really funny anymore. But just in case you’re still up for them, heres the latest pair from the Keep Calm Gallery – Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining and Stop And Smell The Roses.

The ‘Every Cloud’ does at least have an interesting design element – it’s actually made up of thousands of metallic dots, with that metallic silver ink printed onto a 175gsm ‘smoke’ paper that measures 20 x 14 inches. 100 of these, each retailing for £18.

The Art Deco-inspired ‘Roses’ is printed onto off-white recycled paper, also measuring 20 x 14 inches. Again, 100 of these, retailing for £18.

Qora and Shar World Woman Canvases

Worldwoman2We’ve drawn your attention to prints from Qora and Shar before but it looks like they’ve extended their range further, which now includes the World Woman Canvases.

They feature the online of a 1970s-looking woman against a coloured backdrop. There are ten colours to choose from: black, red, orange, khaki, blue. blue grey, and pink which all have a white woman, or white (with the woman in black like a negative) or ochre (which is varying shades of brown).

The canvases are available in a large size (32 inches by 32 inches) for 140 Euros, but also in 16 inches by 16 inches size which is small enough to allow you to group several together pop art style. This not only looks good but saves you from making the tough decision of choosing between colours. This size costs 45 Euros each.

Jinga retro-styled ethical trainers

Jinga

Not only are these Jinga trainers pretty stylish, they also tick the ethical and vegetarian-friendly boxes too.

Made in Brazil, these shoes help to support social projects in the country, providing educational support to poorer areas of Rio de Janeiro. They are also sweatshop free in accordance with the Ethical Trading Initiative and are also suitable for vegans. But above all, they look the part, not unlike some of the better Onitsuka vintage reissues such as the Nippon 60.

Cheap too – a pair in your choice of colour will cost you just £35.

Seventies style raffia wedge shoes from Fendi

IndexSeventies inspiration is going through something of an explosion among the fashion houses this season, from great prints to slightly questionable jumpsuits.

These shoes are unmistakably seventies, with their raffia soles and vintage-styled brown leather uppers. From Fendi, they’ve incorporated the very seventies wedge heel too, which never fails to summon up images of Charlies Angels for me.

They come with Fendi’s usual price tag at £325 and are available online from Net-a-Porter

Sesame Street character t-shirt and hoodie

Sesame_gear

Amazingly these items are for men, but I can’t think of too many blokes who would go out in a Sesame Street character t-shirt and hoodie, no matter how nostalgic they were.

Yet they are incredibly eye-catching items – even if they aren’t all that stylish. Packed with all your ‘old school’ Sesame Street favourites, they appear in full on the t-shirt or in part/detail on the hoodie, with the oversize t-shirt made from 100 per cent cotton and the hoodie from a soft cotton/poly blend with satiny lined hood and contrast drawstring pull.

Both are limited items, with the t-shirt retailing for $33 (around £17) and the hoodie for $80 (around £40).
