Nikko R2-D2 projector available to order in Europe – in very limited numbers

Nikko_r2d2

Remember the Nikko R2-D2 projector we featured a while back? It was Japan-only at the time, but now it’s been confirmed for Europe – but in very limited numbers.

Just 4,000 of these are being made available in Europe and you can pre-order now. For your money, you get a faithful R2-D2 reproduction that can project your favourite films or clips onto any wall or ceiling.  There’s a DVD/CD player built-in, as well as memory card slots, an iPod dock, light and sound effects and best of all, a  Millennium Falcon remote control.

Each one comes with a numbered certificate, but that originality comes at a price. It retails for 2799 Euros, which I make around £2,112. Sounds a lot – but this is surely a real collectable of the future.

Paul Frank Brea coat for Spring/Summer

7768584890d

Another very lovely Spring coat for you all to pore over, this time the retro edged number is from Paul Frank, and it’s pretty darn cute if a little impractical.

The Brea coat is a bit of an oddity due to its short sleeves, but maybe that could be a plus. The big buttons on the double breasted cut and the A-line make this a pretty safe take on most 60s ladies coats – whether or not the plaid is at odds with the rest of the design is up to you.

It’s also available in navy check and plain black, all at $61.95 from Zappos online.

Typhoon Classic Retro Juicer

35615Typhoon has some great kitchenware including the Capsule collection featured here recently. The latest addition to the range they call the Retro Collection is the Classic Retro Juicer, which is a product I’ve not seen in other similar ranges.

It is available in a choice of four suitably old-fashioned sounding colours; Vanilla Cream, Limousine Black, Limousine White and Buick Red. Unlike modern juicers that comprise of umpteen parts and cost a small fortune, the retro juicer is simply to use, producing orange juice with the press of a handle. Obviously it only worked with citrus fruits – if you want to make a health shake with wheatgrass, you’ll need something more advanced.

The retro juicer costs £20 from the Typhoon website.

Reissued Race Rocker in Vintage Fabric

Race_chair
Some time ago we featured the Clarissa Hulse-upholstered Race Chair, a made to order reissue of the British classic with a made to order price. Well, this British classic has now had a wider reissue by Retrouvius as the Race Rocker in Vintage Fabric.

This is still very much the classic piece of mid-century British design, faithful to Ernest Race’s original 1948 specifications and manufactured exclusively for Retrouvius by Race Furniture. And just to boost the period feel, the chairs have been upholstered in specially sourced post-war vintage fabric (a choice is available).

The chair retails for £465 plus VAT, with a more basic linen version available for £395 plus VAT.
