Newgate Quad – retro bedside alarm clock in chrome

Newgate_quad
Most people go for a fairly basic radio/alarm clock to get them out of bed in a morning, but if you want something a bit more stylish, you might want to check out the Newgate Quad mini alarm clock.

We have featured Newgate previously, a company specialising in new clock with vintage looks. And the Quad is no different. It’s a square chrome-framed clock with a glass lens, metal hands and a vintage-style display that screams the 1930s.

It is just a clock though – so expect a bell to wake you up rather than your morning DJ of choice. If you can deal with that, the Quad retails for £30.

Orla_kielyWe’re big fans of Orla Kiely on Retro To Go, she’s got a fantastic eye for retro prints and styles across all her design ranges.

As soon as I saw these purses and the matching shoulder bag I fell in love. The print is great, spot on retro style and the idea of matching the accessories is a great one.

This range is available now from Jem Boutique, a site which carries lots of great retro clothing and accessories. The bag retails at £110.

“The Bus We Love: London’s Affair with the Routemaster” by Travis Elborough

RoutemasterbookAnd while on the subject of the Routemaster bus, if you loved the bus, but perhaps not quite enough to want to recreate it in your own home, you may be interested instead in this book, “The Bus We Love: London’s Affair with the Routemaster” by Travis Elborough.

The book takes a light-hearted nostalgic look at London’s favourite bus, starting with its conception and going right up to its sad recent last trip.

Routemaster Bus Seats

RoutemasterchairRetrouvius is an architectural salvage and design business in Kensal Green in north west London. As well as undertaking design projects, they also sell reclaimed and salvaged furniture and amongst their current stock, we’ve spotted these Routemaster Bus Seats.

De-commissioned in 2005, the Routemaster was an iconic image of London that is much missed. Luckily for fans of the “hop-on hop-off” bus, Retrouvius have salvaged a whole bus full of seats so you can have a little reminder of the Routemaster in your own home.

They cost £50 + VAT per seat. Visit the Retrouvius website to see more images and to contact them to purchase.
