Asda’s budget Mode Retro cushions

Asda_budget

Another supermarket find, this time from Asda, which has introduced a Mode Retro range of cushions.

There are four designs available and shown in the picture above, the Pollock-esque Splatter print cushion, the pop art-style Letters cushion, a Mondrian-influenced Squares print and a 70s-style Embroidered Swirl cushion.

And as this is Asda, they’re all cheap – with the first three priced at £5 and the Embroidered Swirl retailing for £6.

Twiggy bath hand puppet

Twiggy_puppet
Not just a plaything, this Twiggy hand puppet is a bath time mitt too.

Available from Twiggybits in association with MonkeyInADryer.com and Frothco.com, the Twiggy puppet is individually handmade before being colour  screenprinted with the cartoon Twiggy design. And the back made of terry cloth – which means Twiggy can give you a rub down in the bath (although we’d rather not go there).

You can pick one up online for a limited time, you can pick one up for $20, which is around £10.

Ellison Mary Jane court shoes from Barratts

10_270_0994Barratts is almost the last place you’d expect to find a pretty pair of retro shoes, but among the spangle there’s one or two fit for completing any retro wardrobe.

These Ellison Mary Janes aren’t going to blow anyone away, but they’re good looking, a versatile heel height and best of all very affordable.

I’m completely enamoured with this particular shade of brown leather, and the button and rouching on the heel are a nice touch. All that for only £35?

V&A’s exclusive Arts and Crafts mugs

Arts_mugs

We love a cup of tea, ideally out of a nice china cup or mug – something like these Arts and Crafts mugs from the V&A in fact.

They’re exclusive to the museum shop, using original designs housed within the museum from the Arts and Crafts period, printed onto bone china mugs that stand around 9.5cm high.

The one pictured to the left is the Lily print by Walter Crane, but you can also choose from any of the other designs above, which include designs by C.F.A. Voysey and William Morris. All retail for around £10 each.

1960s Style “Sunny” Alarm Clock

193pic_largeDisaster Designs specialise in retro style products, many of which feature kitsch images from the past. Amongst the Elvis and Marilyn Monroe placemats, they also have the Sunny Alarm Clock.

As you can see, the overall shape is very much in the style of a 1960s product, but this is increased by the image on the face. This is of a woman reclining against an orange and yellow backdrop complete with a beaded curtain.

It costs just £12.99 and can be bought online from Iggloo.

Vintage Wallpaper Greeting Card

Wallbrowncard Having just seen off Valentine’s Day, next up is Mother’s Day (2nd March in the UK) and then Easter. Yet more occasions when you may need to send a card. Rather than give more money to the big card manufacturers, may I suggest a Vintage Wallpaper Greeting Card instead?

Made by UK/Australian company Lark, the card is handmade using vintage 1960s wallpaper. There are also matching gift tags available too.

You may be able to make something similar yourself, but as the card only costs £2.50, it is a lot easier to just buy one ready made from the Lark website.
