Whirlpool Max Fitness – the microwave with 1970s looks gets an upgrade

Whirlpoolmax_new
I’ve got a Whirlpool Max microwave, bought it for two reasons – firstly, it has an incredibly small footprint and secondly, it’s probably the best-looking microwave out there. And now it’s had an upgrade.

It is now the Whirlpool Max Fitness, but thankfully it keeps the looks and even adds a few more features. The main selling point o the new oven is an Auto Steam function, which (unsurprisingly) steams food, which is apparently a health-conscious thing to do. It also has a Jet Defrost option (defrosts up to five times faster than standard ovens), conventional microwaving and those 70s portable TV looks.

New colours too, including the chocolate brown pictured here (for the full-on retro vibe). It retails for around £99.

Crystal Radio Receiver Kit

139largeYou are spoilt for choice with digital radios and there are plenty in retro-styles, but if you really want to take things back to the past, you can’t get much more retro than this Crystal Radio Receiver Kit.

It is available to buy from Labour and Wait who specialise in traditional goods. Their website assures that the kit contains “everything you need to make a Crystal Radio” although personally I’ve no idea what might be required for such a task! Thankfully, for the radio-building novice, such as myself, it also comes with clear instructions along with a potted history of radio.

The kit costs £20 and can be ordered from the Labour and Wait website.

Retro Revolution stroller bag by Elodie

Elstrollerbagretrol Who says that babies’ things have to be pastel colours? The Retro Revolution stroller bag by Elodie bucks that convention with its brightly coloured psychedelic pattern.

Created by Swedish brand Elodie, the stroller bag is wind and water resistant too, so you can keep your little one cosy, without giving in to boring traditional colours. And its never to early to start an appreciation of all of things retro.

It costs just under £75 and can be ordered online from Nordic Kids.

Subbuteo Cufflinks – replicas of 1970s players

Subbuteo_cufflinks
I’m loathe to promote novelty cufflinks, but I can’t help but love these Subbuteo Cufflinks.

Made from nickel, the cufflinks are officially licensed and exact replicas of the 1970s-style players (which are now worth quite a bit of cash – as I found out when I recently sold my collection). And if that’s not enough, they even come in a smart presentation box embossed with the Subbuteo logo, along with an instruction leaflet, just in case you’ve never encountered a cufflink before.

Available now, they retail for £19.95 per pair.

Hanii Y silk tunic dress

Fr_3
There’s been rather a lot of dresses on here lately, but one more can hardly hurt. It seems that the big name designers have been going mad for ’70s influences this season, a perfect example being this Silk Tunic Dress from Hanii Y.

The print is clearly inspired by that old late 60s/early 70s folk look. The tunic shape is a great one for wearing over jeans or on its own in Summer.

With the rather hefty price tag of £370 you’re going to have to get your money’s worth, after all.
