For sale: 1960s Edward Hollamby-designed three-storey house in south west London

Wimbledon2

A property with a real 1960s feel is for sale – this Edward Hollamby-designed house in south west London, just a short walk from Brixton underground station.

It's a three-storey town house, part of a small terrace designed to 'suit' the space it was built in and having undergone a 'sympathetic' renovation eight years ago, leaving a mid-century feel to the place inside, using original features likes the open-tread staircase, a timber divider on the first floor and original doors and door furniture throughout.

For sale: Ferris Bueller Ferrari house in Highland Park, Illinois, USA

Ferris1

One of our favourite 'guilty pleasure' movies is John Hughes' 80s teen classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. And if we had the money, we would be all over one of the key locations from the movie – the mid-century 'Ferrari house', which is located in Highland Park, Illinois, USA and is now up for sale.

In the movie, the glass and steel construction was owned by the parents of Cameron Frye and housed the infamous Ferrari, which Cameron and Ferris used to get around town during that 'day off'. That's not included in the sale – but you'll find the garage, which is capable of holding up to three of your finest classic cars.

Villa Sibi Modernist Doll House by Wolfgang Sirch

Modernist1

A doll's house doesn't have to look like a country cottage – check out the Villa Sibi Modernist Doll House by Wolfgang Sirch.

Yes, even if dolls just aren't your thing, this is a seriously cool piece of design for your home – and quite possibly a good place to store all those Vitra miniatures (although you might want to compare the dimensions first). Inspired by the architecture of Mies van der Rohe, the house comes with plexiglass sliding doors, beech furnishings, a kitchen island, indoor swimming pool and shower. Sadly you don't get a pair of hipsters to live in it.

It's sized around 45 inches long, 25 inches wide and 11 inches high, selling in the US for $855 (around £565). We've not seen it available in the UK, but as it's made by the German-based Sirch company, it should be in some stores around Europe. More close-up images over the page.

Lantic1

We continue to be amazed by the number of weird and quirky period properties throughout the UK as well as the number currently on the market – like Lantic House in Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire.

Designed by architects Saunders Boston in 1975, the house offers a country setting, a third of an acre of land and a design that could only have come out of the 1970s. Check out that double-height central space for something typically of its time, not to mention the spiral staircase and a concrete open fire place.
