Pearl & Ivy Liberty Print Ears Alice Band from ASOS

Bow
Add a dash of summer florals to your look with this Liberty Print Alice Ears Band from Pearl & Ivy at ASOS.

Pearl & Ivy are London-based design duo Carly Beischer and Samantha Neary. They draw their influences from vintage styling and the glamourous designs of the 1920's and 1930's.

A flexible metal band within the Liberty print fabric allows you to shape the hairband however you like; be it in a sharp bow like the one pictured here – or go all out and give yourself a pair of ears; either way you can be sure your style will go the distance.

The bow is handmade and costs £30 from ASOS.

For sale: Five-bedroomed 1930s art deco property in Bexleyheath, Kent

Bex1

If you like your art deco mixed with a touch of modern, you might be the ideal customer for this five-bedroomed 1930s art deco property in Bexleyheath, Kent.

Designed by an unnamed Indian architect in the 1930s, the house has undergone extensive modernisation in the last couple of years, although it has been kind to the original design. Expect porcelain flooring, oak doors, high quality bathroom fittings, LED lighting and a very modern kitchen, but with the shape very much respected and neat touches like vintage radiators installed, it’s still an art deco home at its heart.

Kaiser Idell 6556-super floor lamp

Dell

We've featured a Kaiser Idell table lamp before, but here's another imposing piece of twentieth century design, the 6556-super floor lamp.

Like the table lamp, it was designed by Christian Dell, an industrial designer at the Bauhaus and first produced back in the 1930s. It also shares that lamp's classic modernist good looks and is made from steel and brass. Take your pick from a black or white version.

The lamp costs £614.

1920s and 1930s Magazine Cover Blinds

1995
I’m wary of the concept of printed roller blinds, especially if printed with your own holiday snaps, but Creatively Different Blinds has some that could convince me otherwise, in particular these Magazine Cover Blinds.

The images are from an archive at the Mary Evans Picture Library and consist of magazine covers mainly from the 1920s and 1930s, so feature illustrations in the style of that period. The blinds are made to fit your window size, so prices vary depending on your measurements, but expect to pay from £105.
