Space age style Spring lamp at House of Fraser

Spring lamp

Another contemporary design that looks like it came out of another decade, the Spring lamp available at House of Fraser

Looking very much as if it came from the same space age stable as designs by people like Vico Magistretti or Giancarlo Mattioli, this lamp is made from red gloss effect glass. Combine that with the shape and you've got a pretty interesting looking lamp that belies its high street origins.

Reasonably priced too, at £50.

Kauniste 60s and 70s inspired tea towels

Kauniste

This charming tea towel design is taken from the first collection of Finnish company Kauniste

They've looked back to the 60s and 70s to gain inspiration for their designs, produced with the aim for them to be cherished and kept for the next fifty or so years. This Maatilda depicts a rural scene, while the range also includes a tea towel with a depiction of a well-packed kitchen shelf as well as a vegetable pattern that would fit in well with the Linea salad bowl featured yesterday. Each design is printed in bright colours onto a linen and cotton mix.

Each tea towel costs 17 euros.

Linea vibrant veg salad bowl

Linea bowl

This vibrant veg salad bowl is a much quirky addition to the Linea range.

Instead of the very contemporary looking designs I often associate with that range, the brightly coloured illustrations on this stoneware salad bowl give it a retro feel. It reminds me of the neat 1970s designs of Gemuse by Graziela among other things, and hopefully similar items will be added to the range.

Snap this design up quickly before it goes – it costs £20.

House Industries plywood prints

Banjo print

More stylish artwork courtesy of House Industries, in this case with their plywood prints

Their prints are all based around fonts devised for the advertising industry between the 1930s and the 90s. One print actually reproduces the index to these fonts but the Banjo print pictured reproduces the alphabet and has a strong late 60s/70s look with the plywood material adding to the retro feel. Each print is pre-drilled to help with hanging them on your wall.

The prints cost $100 each.

Adidas Trimm-Trab trainers get a colourful reissue

Trimm1

A minor classic from the 1970s is back in a bold finish – the Adidas Trimm-Trab trainers.

Loosely translated as 'keep yourself fit', this 1977 shoe was as popular on the terraces as it was in the gym. Possibly more so. Anyway, it's back with a suede upper, indented contrast sole unit abd a bright colour scheme that mixes orange and blue, throwing in a silver foil print name on the side.

Online now, you can secure a pair for £54.99. A different shot over the page.

eBay watch: Dijkstra 1970s double arc wall lamp

Double

A fine piece of 1970s design, but without the collector's price tag – this Dijkstra double arc wall lamp.

Not really a high-end brand, but certainly an eye-catching piece with two shades hanging at different heights from those curved stems, both hanging from the wall, complete with light switch.

How much for this minor gem? Right now just 1 pence, plus postage from Holland.
