eBay watch: 1970s space age Estyma alarm clock
Big thanks to Andrew Graham for spotting and sending us this superb piece of 1970s space age design, the Estyma alarm clock.
It's a digital flip clock, made in (West) Germany, with that bold yellow outer shell contrasting with the black and white display within. No power needed either – this has an old school wind-up, one mechanism for the date, the other for the time.
The clock is said to run 'fine', with the bright yellow case said to be 'virtually unmarked'. The only blemish is a 'small chip' on the clear scene, which isn't all that noticeable, check the images on the site to see if it's a deal breaker. If not, bidding right now is at just 99 pence.
Classic Snoopy alarm clock
If cool and kitsch is more important to you than cutting-edge technology in the morning, you just might be the perfect customer for this Snoopy alarm clock.
Featuring the ever-popular Peanuts character (now over 50 years old would you believe) and his sidekick Woodstock having a snooze on the dog house, the clock is an old school bell-ringing clock, which has both a light and an alarm. Which is probably why it needs a battery rather than just being a wind-up clock.
Cheap enough, you can get one online for £13.50.
Robot alarm clock from Habitat
This robot alarm clock from Habitat is a great piece of fun retro design for your kids – or just yourself.
The robot stands at just over 11cm high and is made from plastic. As well as looking good, he's got the added bonus of a clock in his stomach – and an alarm to go with it. This blue hatted robot is our favourite but Habitat is also stocking a slightly crazed looking pink robot alarm clock too.
They're both currently reduced in price to £8.

Areaware Alarm Dock by Jonas Damon – turn your iPhone into a flip-style clock
Interesting idea that mixes the past with the present – the Areaware Alarm Dock.
It looks like a vintage-style flip (or early digital) clock, but it's actually a beech wood dock for an iPhone. Slide your phone into the front and it becomes a clock, charging overnight too. That clock display comes from a flip clock app.
Available to pre-order directly, $39.99 is the price.
