eBay watch: 1970s Pieff Alpha armchair by Tim Bates

Pieff

I think we've waxed lyrical about Pieff before, a British company that made interesting and indeed quality items, particularly in the 1970s. While prices for other British makes (like Merrow Associates for example) have gone up, Pieff products are still very reasonable. As this Pieff Alpha armchair demonstrates.

It's a modernist-inspired design from Tim Bates, still looking very stylish 30+ years on. It has three removable cushions, pirelli seat support and a chrome frame. A 'vinyl stretcher' is fixed to the back frame to supports the two back cushions.

It's been well looked after, with only minor wear over the years, with the leather 'fed with quality leather cream' in the recent past. Bidding stands at £21 right now.

eBay watch: Pair of 1970s Milo Baughman lounge chairs

Baugh

Design details are scarce, but the picture should tell you everything about this pair of Milo Baughman lounge chairs, which are available on eBay right now.

No date is attributed, but judging by the look, we would say 1970s, possibly sneaking into the late 60s, but generally that era. It's a very stylish design, with that chromed frame supporting what looks like a very comfortable seat and back, with just minimal arm rests. It's a 'red-orange striped fabric' and the seat cushions are loose.

According to the seller, the chairs are 'in good condition' with 'normal scratches, marks and light scuffs' due to age, but are 'firm and sturdy'. For the two, the price right now is $9.99 (£6.23).

eBay watch: Original 1930s art deco three-piece suite

Deco

Yes, we know you can pick up reproductions and replicas. Indeed, we've featured one or two on the site in the past. But for authenticity, this original 1930s art deco three-piece suite fits the bill.

For your money, you get a two-seater sofa and two 'club' armchairs. They have been re-upholstered in the 1960s in a tan leatherette with stud detailing, but apparently, the material used was the same as was used on Concorde. Another talking point thrown in for free! Love those curves though, screaming the era.

Condition is described as 'very good', with the odd scuff and one small tear to the back or the sofa. The frame is 'very solid'. Of course, you have the option of getting it re-covered. The price right now is £250. Lots more detailed images on the seller's page.
