Berkeley Dressing Table

Berkeley
Dressing tables always suggest a more glamorous time than ours (possibly because I don’t have space for one myself) and this is especially true of the Berkeley Dressing Table from Hyde House.

With its over-sized mirror , framed in black and white, the Berkeley Dressing Table has looks that hark back to the art deco period, although as photographed here against a monochrome striped background, it would work equally well in a 1960s-inspired room.

The dressing table set costs £1,299. Visit the Hyde House website to order.

It's the season for winter sports (should you be that way inclined) and what better way to celebrate than with these Art Deco-style ski posters from Pullman Editions.

Looking every bit like a classic travel posters from the 1920s or '30s, they're in fact commissioned by Pullman Editions who aim to publish striking posters in the Art Deco style. The poster pictured is part of their first collection, entitled 'Art Deco in the Alps', which contains 24 different designs to pick from that cover a variety of famous European ski resorts. eBay watch: 1930s art deco-style table lamp

Deco

According to the seller, it's from the era. If that's the case, this 1930s art deco-style table lamp is quite a bargain as it stands.

It's a black wood and chromed lamp, with its original stepped glass lampshade and an on/off switch at the base. Some minor damage – one chrome disc has minor wear for example – but if it is approaching 80 years old, that's not bad considering.

Right now, bids are at £33, which seems more than fair.

For sale: 1930s five-bedroom art deco house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire

Dacre1

For some years, I presumed all the better art deco-styled houses were in the south of Great Britain. But of late, we've found some cracking properties 'up north', including this five-bedroom art deco house in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

It's an incredibly imposing house. Built back in 1937, it nestles into woodland, overlooking the West Yorkshire countryside and its own grounds, with that 1930s exterior looking faithful to the original design. That's not the case inside.

For sale: 1930s art deco-style house in Greenhill, Weymouth in Dorset

Weymouth1

Not an obvious one from the outside, but take a look inside this 1930s art deco-style house in Greenhill, Weymouth in Dorset and you'll see why we love it. The views aren't bad from the windows either.

Situated in a conservation area, the house is a mix of the old and the new – real contrasts too. The entrance hall is 'reminiscent of a 1930s Parisian hotel interior', complete with original parquet flooring and panelled walls with diamond-shaped insets. The staircase is original too, with rhomboid box panelling and detailed balustrading, while some of the rooms look straight out of the 1930s, contrasting sharply with a very modern fitted kitchen.
