Typetable Poster

Typetables
Prints featuring ABCs are pretty common, but less so prints of that other touchstone of childhood learning – times tables.

The Typetable Poster not only lists the times tables 1 to 12, guaranteed to bring back memories of school, but it combines them different typography. Each number has a different font and the dates and creator of the font are listed with it.

It is available exclusively from Pedlars, priced just under £25 unframed.

Dexter’s World “Subliminal Thatcher” Print

Subliminal thatcher
Still on an Eighties words theme, although at the opposite end of the price scale from the cards below, is Dexter’s World “Subliminal Thatcher” print.

York-based artist Dexter bills his work as trying “to make sense of the 21st Century by recreating the recent past”, which he does by creating pieces consisting of hundreds of words (product names, television programmes, band names, songs, films etc). In this piece, he has added some clever shading over the 80s words, so that the portrait of Margaret Thatcher can be seen casting an ominous shadow over the picture, just as she did over the decade.

The print is available at either a 90" x 36" or 126" x 36" size through LondonArt. The asking price for the larger size is £2,550, but LondonArt allows you to make an offer on any piece, so you could be lucky and get it for less.

Skylon print by Paul Catherall

Skylon
This Skylon print by Paul Catherall is another striking piece of artwork created to mark the 60th anniversary of Festival of Britain.

The Skylon tower was built as part of the Festival of Britain but lasted only a year before being taken down It now just survives on London's Southbank as the name of the Royal Festival Hall resturant. Catherall's linocut makes it look like the futuristic creation it must have appeared like back then – he says he was aiming to capture the adventure and spirit of optimism of the festival. The colours used are perfect to reflect the period of Skylon and help create a striking piece of artwork.

The print is limited to 60 and costs £195.

Emma Pyrah “1950s Housewives“ Collages

6dd36330e180d3d1d7940ad4b9ac5a78
Products featuring “ironic” 1950s housewives aren’t anything special and in most cases the joke has worn pretty thin, but Emma Pyrah’s “1950s Housewives” Collage are a different matter.

The retro housewives are depicted doing their chores set against a black & white background. On closer inspection, the women’s bodies are actually made up of images cut frommagazines and advertisements. There are several different designs to chose from, but they all cost £45.

Visit Henhouse Interiors to see the whole collection.
