eBay watch: 1950s Hans Gugelot-designed Braun G11 valve radio

Braun

Not just a cool piece of midcentury design, this Hans Gugelot-designed Braun G11 valve radio is still in working order as a radio too.

Best known for his work with Dieter Rams, this 'solo' design from Gugelot offers up LW, MW and FM reception, maple veneers, a contrasting white face for the controls and a set of vintage valves within for a rich, warm sound.

As we mentioned earlier, it's offered in full working order, with the veneers in 'fair' condition, with some minor damage and marking – see the close-up shots on the sales page for more on that. But lt.'s be honest – this is well over 50 years old, so hardly surprising. A rare design, with the bidding price right now at £21.

Roberts Revival iStream internet DAB radio

Istream

Not just a Roberts Revival radio, the Roberts Revival iStream internet DAB radio mixes that 50s styling with the power of the net.

By that, we mean the original DAB radio functionality is joined by Wi-Fi internet radio, so the many digital radio stations you can access with this portable retro-styled radio are joined by thousands of internet radio stations and shows. You can also use it to stream your personal music collection directly from your laptop or to access Last.fm.

Find the stations via the digital interface on top, one of the few concessions to the modern era in the design. Powered by mains or battery, the Roberts Revival iStream sells for £199.95.

eBay watch: 1970s Rosita UFO Vision 2000 space age hi-fi system

Rosita

We have featured a couple of Rosita audio system in the past (namely here and here), but this Rosita UFO Vision 2000 hi-fi system is undoubtedly our favourite.

Designed out of West Germany in 1971 by Thilo Oerke, the design is pure space age – a globe holding the audio kit, with a chromed tulip-style stand for support. sadly, the audio doesn't quite live up to the design, a very 'of the era' cassette player and radio, although the futuristic controls and slide-up clear domed lid make up for it in some way.

It's described as being in 'original unrestored condition, with 'only marginal wear' to show for the years. Not cheap though, £1,899 on a 'Buy It Now' or you can make an offer. Another image over the page, many more on the listing.

eBay watch: Rosita 1970s space age hi-fi system

Ros1

Regular readers will recall us featuring the Rosita Stereo Commander Luxus hi-fi system recently, which was a stunning space age audio system, albeit for £1,699. This Rosita space age hi-fi system is similar and from the same era – but bidding starts at just £1.

There are differences though, despite the initial similarity of looks, not least the stunning chromed, tulip-style base and that similarity of age. This one is made of painted wood for the casing, with integrated speakers and a see-through plastic lid. Vinyl playback, a cassette player and a Grundig radio, plus lots of stylish controls finish things off.

Downside? This is in 'unrestored' condition and although there's no major damage, there are some (cosmetic) things missing from the cassette player. Still, with no bids and that £1 price tag still possible, this Rosita system is well worth looking at more closely. Another image over the page or see the listing for many more.
