eBay watch: Philips 423 folding record player and Philips 210 portable record player

Phil1

Regular readers will know that we love a vintage record player, so here's not one, but two players from the same seller – the Philips 423 folding record player and the Philips 210 portable record player, both of which are  on eBay right now.

The first of these is pictured above, the 1970s 423, which packs away into a stylish little case, but opens out to play with batteries or mains, with 33/45/79 speeds, volume and tone controls plus the speaker in the case. Condition is described as 'used but very good' and the price right now is £8.50.

You can see the full item details right here or check out another player below.

eBay watch: 1970s Philips 100 22AF100 portable record player

Philips

Not the rarest '70s record player, but this Philips 100 22AF100 portable record player is well worth a look for the right price.

In a shade of yellow/orange, it plays 33 and 45 records, with the speaker built into the lid and the whole thing easy to pack up and carry around like a small suitcase.

It's described as having a 'very good sound' and is in 'used but very good' condition. A couple of days left for bidding, but right now it's just £3.21.

eBay watch: 1970s Welltron Model 2002 space age ball radio

Welltron

Yesterday, I was discussing with regular RTG correspondent Andrew the difficulty these days of finding good space age design at a decent (aka cheap) price. A point summed up well by this Welltron Model 2002 space age ball radio.

It's a stunning piece of space age design, playing AM/FM radio in stereo sound from that ball-shaped unit, throwing in some eye-catching sliders and chrome-clad controls. it even has the original magnetic stand included.

Condition is described as 'unrestored' and 'very good above', with only marginal wear from age and of course, it works. It's the kind of thing that would have turned up in junk shops some years back and would have cost a few quid even then. But certainly nothing like the £399 being asked here. Although you can make an offer. See the listing for lots more photos.

eBay watch: Dieter Rams-designed Braun RT20 radio

Braun

We might have featured one of these before. If you missed that – or have never seen one before – this Braun RT20 radio is a very cool (and practical) thing to have around the house.

The work of Dieter Rams and Hans Gugelot around 1961, it still has a very contemporary edge to it, thanks to that non-nonsense modernist design. It picks up LW, MW and FM signals, with audio via that large built-in speaker.

There's some wear to the wooden and metal casing, but there doesn't look a lot, judging by the large number of images on the site. 64p is the current price, so cheap it's unheard of.

eBay watch: 1950s Marconiphone valve-based portable record player in ‘mint’ condition

Marc1

A long title, but hopefully it tells you more or less everything about this Marconiphone portable record player currently on eBay.

It's a stunning thing, described by the seller as a 'timeworn' and in 'as new' condition – over 50 years on, that's something. The case is in a two-tone pastel design, while the deck plays 16, 33, 45 and 78 vinyl through its valve-based audio system.

Even as a piece of design, it's worth mentioning, but it's a practical item too for vinyl lovers. See a shot of it closed up over the page, with the price currently at a bargain £29.99.

eBay watch: 1970s Jacob Jensen-designed Beocenter 2000 audio system

Bang1

I personally think vintage B&O is undervalued – great audio quality and stylish looks, very much of an era. In fact, as I write, this Bang & Olufsen Beocenter 2000 audio system is under £1.

Which is madness when you think about it. It's been designed by Jacob Jensen, it's got a stylish teak surround, slightly space looks, that B&O audio know-how and best of all, is still a practical item – able to play our vinyl, radio via AM and FM and of course, playback for all your old tapes.

It's also in 'very good condition' and full working order, despite being over 30 years old. All you need is some speakers. For 99p, it's a giveaway. Another shot of it over the page.
