With crafting currently enjoying a fashionable moment, what better time to dip into Cathy Callahan's Vintage Craft Workshop? Specialising in popular retro craft, its subtitle promises to give fresh takes on classic crafts from the '60s and the '70s. 

Various contributors help with the books 24 projects, reviving favourite crafts such as macrame, crochet and papier mache. The book aims to produce results that are stylish, not kitsch – I think this possibly has to be seen to be believed.

We've featured a surprising number of colouring books on the site over the years: architecture, sneakers, Warhol and even Joy Division. Now you can get out your favourite felt tips, and maybe a few fluorescent markers too, for this 80s colouring book by I Love Mel. 

The latest in Mel's Colour Me Good range of colouring books, this book features some of the decades most famous symbols of pop culture: there's the Brat pack, Simon Le Bon, Jim'll Fix It, Phillip Schofield and Gordon the Gopher, alongside favourite 80s toys such as Mr Frosty and the humble roller skate.

If you were inspired by Marnie Fogg's book on Vintage Knitwear and want to be able to recreate some of the looks yourself, there's another book you might want to invest in: Knitting Vintage by Claire Montgomerie.

The book features 30 knitting projects relating to trends and knitwear looks dating from between the 1900s and 1980s and reinventing them to work as part of a contemporary wardrobe. There's plenty of visual inspiration too: as well as plenty of images, there's a look at how different classic knitwear styles have been reinterpreted over the decades. 

With 176 pages, this seems like a bit of a bargain, especially as you can currently buy it for £9.79 from Amazon.

If you were interested in the Ascher pop up studio we featured earlier in the year, this new book on Scarves by Nicky Albrechtsen and Fola Solanke should provide plenty of fashionable inspiration. 

Published by Thames and Hudson, the book looks at 250 examples of women's scarves designed and produced over the course of the twentieth-century, especially when scarves reached the height of their popularity in the Forties and Sixties. The 304 page book contains pieces by huge fashion names ranging from Paul Poiret and Elsa Schiaparelli to Gucci, Zandra Rhodes and Hermes. Through its colourful photographs, the illustrates a slightly different take on fashion in the last century.
