Another delightful Etsy find – a set of Vintage Camera Prints by Suzannah Tucker.

The set consists of four photo blocks, each one depicting a different vintage camera, namely a Minolta, an sx-70, a Duaflex and an Ikonette. The images have the soft focus and colours associated with old-fashioned photography. The blocks measures 9.5 cm square and are 18mm thick.

Priced around £38, plus another £12 or so shipping from New Zealand to the UK, you can buy them online from Suzannah Tucker’s Etsy shop.

Lomo LC-A+ White limited edition camera set

Lomo1

We have featured the Lomo LC-A+, not least when it celebrated 25 years last year. Well, it’s 26 this year and the camera that started the whole Lomography thing off is back as the Lomo LC-A+ White.

It’s quite a package too. This Soviet-era 35mm camera still has that Russian Minitar 1 f/2.8 32mm lens, but this time comes with a white camera body with white leather detailing that’s ‘inspired by a Japanese garden’. There’s also a multiple exposure switch for easy, real-time double-exposure, expanded film ISO settings from 100 to 1600, a cable release thread for shake-free night-time and indoor shooting and a hot shoe for external flash.

Oh yes, there’s also a cool matching white case and the option to upgrade to allsorts of extras, some of which are pictured over the page. Only 1,000 worldwide, it’s priced at £379.

Brownie Light

_MG_0748
Type is a design shop based in London’s East End, that sells an intriguing mixture of fashion and interior design items. The Brownie Light is one of their bestselling products and it is not hard to see why.

The light has been created by taking a vintage brownie camera and adding a bulb in the place where the lens normally goes. The result is an unusual piece that will particularly appeal to photography fans, but equally to anyone who likes to see vintage items put to new uses.

The Brownie Light costs £120. Visit the Type website for contact detail and store opening times.

Five of the best: Vintage camera apps for Apple’s iPhone

As retro as we all like to be, it’s useful to have a modern handset and we’re guessing many of you currently use Apple’s iPhone. But the iPhone can be retro too, especially when it comes to photography. In fact, there are so many retro camera apps out there, we thought we would sort out the good from the bad.

Specifically, picking out what are, in our opinion, the five best vintage camera apps for the iPhone.

Camera1

1. Hipstamatic

It’s the star of the show, at least in terms of sales. It comes with three rolls of vintage-style film (simulated of course). plus a selection of lenses and flashes for the initial price. Once you’re in, you can buy more, as well as share via the social networks and if you love your work lots, you can even order your analogue prints.

It’s the market leader for good reason and is easy to use. But unless you start spending, you might get a little bored of the limited options fairly soon.

We like: Ease of use, finished and the options to share.
Not so sure about: Cost of add-ons and how quickly we got tired of the initial set up.

Price: £1.19

Lomography introduces the Sprocket Rocket camera

Sprocket

Another quirky, vintage-style camera from Lomography – the Sprocket Rocket.

It’s the world’s first dedicated ‘sprocket hole’ camera, able to fire out huge panoramic shots across 35mm film, including the sprocket holes. But that’s not all – it’s got a ‘reverse gear’ too, which allows you to use the shiny knobs on top of the camera to move it back and forth to create something very unique to you.

It’s not rocket science, but it’s probably a lot of fun. Grab one now online, the price is 79 Euros.

eBay watch: Vista Colour vintage bakelite 120 film camera

Vista

A real oddity on eBay right now, this Vista Colour vintage bakelite 120 film camera.

Not sure about the year, the seller is pitching it as 1930s, I'd think it was a little later. But it's certainly an old one. Despite that, it's incredibly complete – right down to the box, the original strap and some original unused film would you believe.

The seller can't confirm it works, although 'the shutter does seem to fire just fine', so you might be in luck. Anyway, right now it doesn't cost much to find out, with the price at just 99 cents (63p) plus the shipping out of Texas.
