Fiat 500C by Diesel unveiled

Fiat1

The original Fiat 500 by Diesel went on sale around 18 months back, but priced well up on the basic model. So we expect much the same of the forthcoming Fiat 500C by Diesel.

As you've probably guessed, this is another remake of everyone's favourite modern-day retro car, but with Diesel giving treatment to the convertible 500. So the same Diesel detailing on the wheels, side-panels and interior, the same anthracite colourway (pictured over the page) and new blue (above) and beige versions.

No news on price, but it would be wise to budget up on a standard convertible.

eBay watch: Starsky and Hutch-styled 1976 Ford Gran Torino

Starsky

One man's obsession could be your gain with this 1976 Ford Gran Torino, inspired, as you can see, by the cult car from the Starsky and Hutch TV series.

A whopping 18ft long, the car was originally bought off Ebay but has undergone extensive work since – a new Ford Racing 351w crate engine, new Ford Racing Aluminium Manifold, dual hand built Magnaflow exhausts, new radiator and heater hoses, new front rotors, pads, seals, bearings and brake hoses…the list goes on. Check out the site for the full breakdown. Let's just say a lot of money has been spent and the new engine has done just 600 miles.

It still needs some work (again, listed on the site), but looks to run fine as it is. The only thing you'll need to worry about initially is having a garage big enough to house it and the money to buy it. On the last point, £7,000 is needed to get on the bidding board.

eBay watch: 1971 Volvo P1800 E

Volvo

Fans of 1960s cult TV might recognise the caar above – Roger Moore's incarnation of The Saint drove round in a Volvo P1800 – and you can too for just over £4,000.

The model up for auction on eBay is a slightly later model, a 1971 P1800 E, but it looks every bit the part and most importantly, it's been well looked after. According to the sales blurb, the car has been 'regularly serviced and has had a lot of money spent on it' – although there are a list of improvements you should be aware of before you bid on the site.

In terms of specifics, the two-door P1800 E has a 2-litre, ful-injected engine, a manual 4 speed gear box withorking electronic overdrive (5th gear), full stainless steel exhaust, solid paint work and a fully-operational dash. Tax-exempt of course. The bidding is currently at £4,100, which is a very tempting price. See the site for many more images.

Ferris Bueller Ferrari up for auction at Bonhams

Ferris

No, it didn't actually slip off a sharp cliff near Cameron's modernist house – the Ferrari that featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off survived and is now up for auction at Bonhams.

It's a Ferrari 250GT Spyder California, but not a real one – only 100 of the original were made between 1958 and 1963, making it super-rare, so John Hughes and Paramount actually had a replica made for filiming. Which is the one being sold off now. Just think, you too could be careering around the city in that same car – but you'll not have to worry about the mileage or your parents.
