The Smurfs Smurfette Plush Toy from Firebox

P4117_main The Smurfs may be a distant blue memory to you, but this Smurfette Plush Toy from Firebox is proof positive that they will be making an imminent return to our screens.

Simpsons luminary Hank Azaria and Dougie Howser MD himself, Neil Patrick Harris (another eighties throwback) accompany none other than Katy Perry who voices the aforementioned Smurfette in this 3D live action/CGI family movie.

The Smurfette Toy is every bit as cute as the original cartoon character. Measuring 10 inches high she's supersoft, as are her little blue friends; Gutsy, Clumsy and Papa Smurf. The toys cost £14.99 each and are available from Firebox here.

Vintage UPA cartoon-style portraits by SkribblyKids

Apc

It's a portrait of you – but these vintage UPA cartoon-style portraits by SkribblyKids come with their very own retro twist.

As the title suggests, it's a personalised portrait on offer – you send over a photo, clothes you want to be wearing, colours etc, the artist will send back a rough drawing, changes are made and the final image is posts off to you. Yes, you and your family (or anyone to be honest) in vintage cartoon glory.

The image above is just one example, but more are available to view on the Etsy page. Want one? You're looking at around $100 (around £64).

Sir Peter Blake unveils Vichy series of limited edition screenprints

Blake_vichy

We're always happy to see a new set of screenprints by Sir Peter Blake, with the latest one going by the name of the Vichy series.

It's back to the collages for Blake, with the series including The Butterfly Man, Horseshow and our favourite pictured above, A Convention of Comic Book Characters. It is just that, including the likes of Dennis the Menace, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, Charlie Brown, Linus, Desperate Dan, Lord Snooty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Invisible Man (if you can see him), Green Goblin and many more.

This particular print is in an edition of 125, sized at 393mm x 380mm and as you would expect, signed and numbered by the artist. Not cheap at £1,750, but Blake prints, especially ones based on popular culture, are always a good investment.

Peanuts 60th anniversary products at Dover Street Market

Peanuts1

You may or may not know that it's 60 years since Charles M. Schulz brought Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts characters into the world. So to celebrate, Dover Street Market has teamed up with a host of brands to produce a Peanuts 60th anniversary range.

From 27th September, the store will have a Peanuts-themed window and a range of goodies from the likes of Lacoste, Loopwheeler, Original Fake, Converse, Hysteric Glamour, Longchamp, Medicom Be@rbrick and Mulberry.

You can see some above, but check out the Peanuts Be@rbrick characters over the page, along with the Converse and the watch. Prices? No details of those as yet, check the DSM website on launch date. But we suspect the Longchamp Snoopy bag isn't going to come cheap.

Modesty Blaise laptop case by ChiLidog Design

Modesty1

You might recall the very cool Modesty Blaise suitcases we featured earlier this year. Well, there's now a matching piece for your portable PC – the Modesty Blaise laptop case by ChiLidog Design.

Like the cases, the laptop bag is inspired by artwork from cult 1960s comic strip Modesty Blaise, the work of Peter O'Donnell, although it was illustrated by Jim Holdaway. I say 'inspired' because the signature actually says 'Romero', which is more than a little confusing. Anyway, the retro-styled artwork is front and back, as well forming the design of the lining.

Choose from two sizes of bag, both made of highly durable neoprene to keep your computer safe. It's priced from £33.48. See over the page for the reverse image.
