Darkroom Stolen from De Stijl range

Darkroom
One of London's most stylish shops, Darkroom, have launched their first own collection. Stolen from De Stijl is as strongly influenced by the Dutch art movement as the name might suggest.

The range adopts the simple visual ideas advocated by the De Stijl movement, applying blocks and lines of primary colours, along with black and white only, across a range of products including scarves, bags, cushions and notebooks. The plate pictured is hand-painted and unglazed so for purely decorative purposes only if you want it to retain its sense of style.

Prices start at £22 while the plates cost £120 each.

Sagaform Blossom Teapot

Blossomteapot
Sagaform can always be relied upon for a good retro pattern such with the Blossom Teapot being the latest.

The teapot is made from stoneware with an oak lid. If the design looks familiar, that is because Blossom combines the elements of three other Camilla Engdahl patterns: Tulip, Daisy and Clover, so if you already own tea sets in those prints, this teapot will work well with them.

Buy it from Illustrated Living, priced £25.95.

’50s style tea towel from H&M

Elde tea towel

It's a classy piece of design which looks like it would be more at home on the wall than in the kitchen but in fact this '50s style tea towel is from H&M

Designer Anna Karin-Elde has depicted two ceramics, drawn in a sketchy fifties style. The simple design is then printed onto 100% organic cotton.

You'd expect H&M to be cheap but in fact this design is on sale so it's even more of a bargain, costing just £3.49.

Coffee Time print by Laura Amiss

Dandelion clocks print

We've shown you prints that are inspired by some great retro designs before. This Coffee Time print by Laura Amiss features one of our favourite – and one of the most popular – designs of recent time: Dandelion Clocks by Sanderson.

Laura is based in Amsterdam and has produced a simple A4-sized print that plays up the fifties looks of the design: if you can't quite afford the wallpaper, this is surely a nice compromise.

It's certainly a lot cheaper as the print costs just 12 euros.

Miniature Bitossi animals from SCP

Bitossi_1_grande

You may remember these from when they were reissued a few years ago. The Bitossi animals are now back in miniature form, and selling at SCP

The distinctive blue ceramic creatures were originally designed in the early 50s by Aldo Londi. They've picked ten of the designs and literally shrunk them – they now range from 3cm to 12cm in height. Something of a sense of exclusivity about them too – only a thousand of the sets are being made in total.

The set costs £419, or you can contact the store for the price of individual animals.

Milano Teapot

Milanoteapot

This unusual teapot is not a rare vintage find, but the Milano Teapot from Dwell.

It has a distinctive shape, which gives it an Art Deco feel. It is described as being ceramic, but has a chrome finish. It costs just £19.95, but to me, it looks as if it costs a lot more. There are also Milano espresso cups and saucers with a similar curvy shape, priced £9.95 each.
