Alexander Girard Christmas cards at Lagom

Girard angel
Send your festive wishes mid-century style this year, with the Alexander Girard Christmas cards available from Lagom.

The cards add to their existing range of greeting cards based on Girard's colourful designs. Girard apparently amassed nativities for the International Museum of Folk Art in Santa Fe (in term inspiring the recently issued nativity set) so it's no surprise these influenced his work. Shown above is a card based on a 1962 Nativity Angel. You can also pick from a card featuring a Nativity dating from 1968 or Flying Angels from 1971.

Individual cards cost £1.80 each, or you can get a set of the angels in three different colours for £3.40.

For those determined to have an entirely retro Christmas, Etsy seller dodelinedesign has some great Christmas cards designs, with my favourite being the Mid-Century Modern Christmas Cards.

These cards features a pile of classic chairs (it looks like an Eames design), stacked on top of one another in a Christmas tree formation and topped with a simple red star. You can buy an individual card for around £1.90, or buy in packs of 8 or 20 to save some money, which are priced just under £10 and around £18 respectively.

Book plate gift wrap sets from Present & Correct

Book plate
Without mentioning the word, it's soon to be that time of year when you'll need some wrapping paper close to hand. For a more stylish than Santa option, take a look at these new book plate gift wrap sets from Present & Correct.

Each set contains four sheets of paper with a different design. The sheets all reference classic book plates from the 1940s and 50s, using eye-catching geometric patterns. To add the finishing touch, each sheet bears the inscription 'This gift belongs to' in the place of where a book lover would normally claim their ownership, therefore eliminating the need for separate address labels.

Both good-looking and time-saving, a set costs £6.75.

Patchwork Harmony vintage chocolate moulds Christmas decorations

Patchwork copy

Christmas tree up but missing that final decorative touch? Patchwork Harmony have come up with an unusual but (literally) sweet idea. They are selling vintage chocolate mould decorations: moulds that are no longer in use, hung on ribbons, ready to hang onto the tree.

Somehow, judging from the image, the pretty shapes and the slightly aged material of the moulds actually seem to work quite well as decorations. Perhaps it would be worth plundering your Gran's cupboard or your local charity shops and seeing if you can make your own. If not, you can buy five in a pack for £6.95.
