Interesting piece of design on eBay right now, with the Braun Phase One alarm clock currently looking something of a steal.
Designed by the legendary Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs back in 1971, it's a minimalist, flip-style alarm clock in black and white, that alarm being a buzzer, as you might expect.
According to the seller, the body surface is 'glossy and free of scuffs and scratches' and is currently being offered at just 99 pence. Like I said, something of a steal.

The display method now more associated with retro digital watches or old games of space invaders, but here is given a contemporary look, enhanced by the cool white of the background and casing. Displaying both the time and the day, it's everything you need to be kept up to-do-date.

Only last week we showed you the Nelson print by Blue Ant Studio, a print inspired by George Nelson's Spike clock. Now we've spotted this high-street take on the classic design, the Spike sticker clock from Next.
Aside from the name, they've clearly taken influence from the radiating spokes of the classic design. However, here the colourful spokes are made of plastic and are self-adhesive so they can be fixed where ever you'd like.
Brightly coloured and a bargain too, at £20.

Alexander Harris was inspired by probably the most famous clock in the world when creating his Ben Desk Clock.
The design has a minimalist graphic look to it with the clock tower resembling a child’s building block. The desk clock has four clock faces, allowing you to set a different time zone on each one and marking it on the blackboard-like base.
The Ben Desk Clock costs £95 (£103 with shipping in the UK or £115 anywhere else) from Counter Objects.
It's been a while since we featured Blue Ant Studio on this site. They're the design studio behind pieces like the Alphabet of Modern Classics and they've turned their attention to another modern design classic with this Nelson print.
Unsurprisingly the Nelson title refers to George Nelson and the print features a simplified version of his Spike Clock. Measuring just over 43cm high, the distinctive outline of the clock is played off against the bold colour of the print and gives a striking result. And, of course, it's more affordable than the real thing.

Here's a design that's over 30 years old, but still looks fresh today – the Braun DN 50 Visotronic digital alarm clock by Ludwig Littmann.
This L-shaped alarm clock was designed in 1975 by Littmann under the design directorship of Dieter Rams, offering some style for your bedside table, not to mention a big digital display and and alarm/snooze.
Described as being 'fully functional' and 'in excellent order', it's currently at just £1.20.
