Jens Risom furniture at the Rocket Gallery

Risom

London's Rocket Gallery are putting on another exhibition of Jens Risom furniture next month, this time with a difference as the gallery has been given the European licence to reissue Risom's designs.

The collection has been done in collaboration with the furniture makers, Benchmark, all under the supervision of a now very elderly Risom. It includes nine pieces originally designed in the 1950s and 60s, including chairs, a desk, side tables and an upholstered bench, recreated in a mixture of oak and walnut versions.

There's no mention of prices yet but if you fancy a look the exhibition runs from 2 July to 4 September.

Mondrian-inspired Mondri mug by Frank Kerdil

Mondri

Piet Mondrian has always inspired plenty of designers but there seems to be a rush of products influence by his art recently, from the Mondrian table range to the Piet tables. Add to that list the Mondri mug by Frank Kerdil

Like the vase Kerdil designed with the same name, he's used the strong lines and colour associated with the artist's work on a new product. In this case it's a sturdy looking, handle-less mug, complete with a silicon ring for adding practicality. It's one of several mugs by Kerdil new in at Panik Design, all of which have a strong graphic look that Mondrian would surely also have approved of.

The mugs are also a cheaper way to buy into the look than many of the other options, costing only £10.

70s apple tree money box

Green-apple-tree-moneybox

Give your kids an alternative to raiding the piggy bank, with this apple tree money box which has a design dating back to the 1970s.

This fun and bright plastic design has been helping Danish children save up their krone for almost forty years. Also available in red, the tree opens on the back for access to the money and there's a slot on the back so it can be displayed on the wall.

For £8.95 it's perfect in proving that money really can grown on trees.

Clementine 1970s table lights

Clem

These are vintage items, but interestingly, the Clementine table lights available at the Modern Warehouse still come with their original boxes.

Dating back to the 1970s and deriving from Denmark, the lights were presumably a fun rather than high-end design – which it still is today. An alien-like shape that offers up some space age-style mood lighting for your living room.

Not too expensive either – just £40 each.

eBay watch: 1980s Bang and Olufsen Beocom 2000 telephone

Beocom

Here's a more modern item than we usually feature, but if you want something that screams the 1980s, this Bang and Olufsen Beocom 2000 telephone is it.

The phone was designed by Lone and Gideon Lindinger-Loewy in the 1980s, continuing in production until late in the 1990s – but the colourful colour scheme tells us this is an earlier model (the bright colours were killed off in the early 90s).

Functional as a modern home phone and known for its excellent sound quality, an early use of a digital display, number memory, pause function, built-in speaker – there's even a hidden note pad. It's on a 'Buy It Now' for £89.99 – or for the more frugal, a 'Make Offer' too.
