1920s Bellevue AJ3 Desk Light by Arne Jacobsen

Arne

A very stylish reissue from &Tradition, this Bellevue AJ3 Desk Light by Arne Jacobsen.

Would you believe this dates back to 1929? It does indeed, inspired by modernist designs of the Bauhaus era and itself the inspiration for later Jacobsen designs. For your money, you get a swan-neck design with tubular steel for the frame and a lacquered aluminium shade. Simple, but effective.

Black and white are the colour options, £395 is the price for either.

George Nelson-style Writing Table

1293456468-04249300
Nowhere nearly as gorgeous as the George Nelson Home Desk, but then this George Nelson-style Writing Table is a more realistic price for most of us.

It was inspired by another of his desk designs from the 1950s and is made from walnut veneer with a white base. Its vital statistics are 67cm high by 77cm wide and 36cm deep, and it costs a meagre £399.

eBay watch 4x 1960s Anvia table and wall lamps

Anvia

Not one quirky piece of 1960s lighting, you get four if you successfully bid on these Anvia table and wall lamps.

Full of early-to-mid 1960s charm, the metal lamps, two wall and two table/desk, were apparently originally sold as a set 'back in the day' and this set, amazingly, remains intact.

In fact, according to the seller, the lamps are in 'near perfect' condition, with no dents or rusting. See the listing for more detailed shots, with the price at just 1 pence now, although there's still plenty of time to go.

Christie’s Interiors auction in London

Desk

Want to kit your home out in some classic 20th century design? You need to head for the Christie's Interiors auction in London, which takes place at the South Kensington site in London in 8th February 2011.

In truth, there are items going through the centuries, both antique and fairly recent, but it's the midcentury items that have caught our eye. This Ernst Igl Hadi desk is one such design. From 1971, this space age gem was produced by Bayer in moulded polyurethane, with storage and lighting built-in.

Not too expensive either really, £800 – £1,200 is the estimate. Check out the site to register to bid or see all the lots.

Tortie Hoare may have won Designer of the Year 2010, but her Leather and Walnut Desk looks like something decades older.

The leather creates a storage pouch at the end of the desk, and was created using the ancient technique of boiling leather. The desk is the perfect size for a laptop or simply a writing space. It is a limited edition piece of just 30, with each one handmade.

The desk costs £1,582 and can be ordered via My Deco.
