  5550031200_1

Oasis do a retro-style dress better than most and their latest New Vintage summer collection is no exception.

There are five dresses in the range including this Monet Print Prom Dress; a show-stopping floral silk number with a single strap and ruched bandeau body. The skirt is classic prom-dress with a nipped-in waist and full skirt with net underlay.

At £150, the dress is at the top end of the Oasis price spectrum but the romantic style won't date so should carry it through for many seasons to come. The range also includes fabric bags and scarves in similarly nostalgic prints.

Printed Mini Dress from Debenhams

Printeddress

Sixties fashion in Britain is often best remembered for psychedelic styles, and while this was a trend that was relatively short lived, its influence is clear to see in modern retro pieces. This Printed Mini Dress by Red Herring is an ideal way to wear a bold print without looking like you've just come from the dressing up box.

The key is the simplistic cut of the dress, with an a-line cut, strapless top and mini hemline creating a surefire sixties silhouette. The choice of light, bright shades of orange, pinks and and off white background add a vintage-shop air to a fun and vibrant floral.

It's available now from Debenhams for £29.

Tile Print Dress from Warehouse

Tiledress

The late sixties and seventies saw a huge influence of Eastern and African influence making waves in the fashion world, with the use of prints and colour palettes gaining a whole new exoticism. This Tile and Stripe Print Dress from Warehouse is a cool ode to that era, creating a look with lots of seventies inspiration.

The dress structure is simple but effective, with a loose fit around the shoulders and bust thanks to the backless cut. This simplistic draping creates a real seventies luxury, while also allowing the complicated print to look classic and uncluttered. The tile print takes an African influence and adds some Western modernity thanks to a summery colour palette and the silk fabric finish.

It's available from Warehouse now for £65.
