Darling Clementine Woodland card range

Darling Clemintine woodland

Darling Clementine have previously been celebrated on this site for their 1970s designs. So it's hardly a surprise that their new Woodland card range references that Seventies trend currently enjoying a revival in fashion, 70s folk.

The cards are sold in sets of eight different designs. They feature all the motifs you'd expect like birds, flowers and leaves. The use of pinks, oranges and black, rather than the blues and greens you might expect, gives a contemporary edge to their look.

A set of the cards costs $35.

Sarah Blouse by Pins & Needles

Sarahblouse

While plenty of fifties florals are all over the high street at the moment, there are some pieces with a more broad retro appeal to be found. This Sarah Blouse by Pins & Needles features a vintage inspired floral print, but on a garment which spans many retro looks.

The cut of the blouse, with high necked mandarin collar, banded waistline and light shoulder ruching, toes the line between femininity and androgyny with flair. Perfect for looks from sharp sixties to seventies folk style and beyond, this is a versatile gem.

Embroidered Skirt by Culture

Culture

While miniskirts rule supreme for sixties looks, a more demure length is the order of the day for a variety of other retro eras. This Embroidered Skirt by Culture is a great choice for lovers of many vintage looks, suiting both a fifties and seventies aesthetic.

The combination of Americana and folk styles suits this skirt to both those looks, with a below knee length managing to avoid frumpiness thanks to a well tailored cut. The A-line flaring and high waistline create the desired silhouette, while a simplistic floral embroidery adds an element of girlish appeal.

Silk and Chiffon Dress from Day Birger et Mikkelsen

Daybluedreams

The floating fabrics and cuts of summer bring a whole new retro aesthetic back into play on both the high street and designer catwalks, moving away from sharp sixties cuts to a more seventies folk and hippy look. This Day Birger et Mikkelsen dress taps into that look to create a vintage silhouette.

The layering of silks and chiffons makes for a rather demure dress, in keeping with the wholesome end of retro folk style. The dress uses an A-line cut combined with button front and sheer three-quarter sleeves to evoke a distinctly English countryside look, both easy to wear and lastingly retro.

Maisie duvet set from John Lewis

Maisie duvet

It's got a design that looks like it's straight from the 70s but this Maisie duvet set from John Lewis is actually a contemporary design.

Certainly not the duvet to go for if you want a calm and neutral look in your bedroom, this design has a strong folk influence and uses birds, flowers and other trailing plants to create its distinctive pattern. The retro feel is enhanced by the blue and green against white colour scheme.

The duvet cover costs between £35 to £65 depending on size while pillow cases are £15 to £18.

Sanna Annukka at nineteenseventythree

Sanna combo

We've featured many of the designs of Sanna Annukka previously on this site, both her products for Marimekko and things she's put out under her own name. Here's a new, affordable way to buy her work with the nineteenseventythree range.

Greetings cards are the first products from the range to be released but it'll eventually include wrapping paper and postcards too. As evident from the cards shown, the designs all display Annukka's trade mark retro folk style, using the bird motifs we know so well. The cards are all made from 100% recycled consumer waste and use gold foil to add an extra bit of glitz to the otherwise restrained colour palette of the designs.

The cards cost £2 each.
