Graham and Green dove vases

G&G dove vase

Graham and Green are the latest high street retailer to start selling the folk trend with these dove vases from their Spring range.

Although they're a contemporary design, the vases definitely have got a vintage look. The use of such 70s-style motifs has been cropping up a lot recently, from Sanna Annukka's soul birds to Donna Wilson's bird nest plate, while the crackle green glaze adds to the impression that these might have been picked up in a charity shop, rather than online.

The vases come in two sizes and prices. The smaller vase is 31cm high and costs £36 and the larger is an extra 7cm tall and costs £48.

M&S ‘Folk’ vase

M&S Folk vase

If you saw this in someone's home, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a vintage number. Surprisingly this Folk vase is actually manufactured by Marks and Spencer and is part of their new Spring 2010 collections.

With its interesting shape and coloured glass, the vase has a definite late 60s/70s look. It's just one selected from their collection, all with the same retro feel. The range spreads across homeware, from cushions to rugs, so its worth a browse if you like the style of this piece.

This vase costs £9.50 with the rest of the vases in the range being similar reasonable prices.

70s style magnetic bird notice board

Magnetic bird
There's all kinds of 70s folk inspired homewares cropping up on the high street right now. This magnetic bird notice board certainly fits into that category.

The board has a very Scandinavian look and is made from steel with a nice decorative pattern on its tale. For even more of a peace and love feel, the design is also available as a white dove.

Measuring 58cm across this piece costs £35 but you can also get mini, individual bird magnets to use with it (or on their own) for £1.95 each.

Village cushion set

Village cushion

More folk art-inspired goodness with this Village cushion set. The cushions look great individually in an attractively retro yellow and grey colour scheme but also fit together to form the landscape of a village. While some cushions show trees, roads and houses, there are also smaller cushions which feature only show things like a dog or a bird.

The cushions are the work of Rachael Cole, a Brooklyn based art director and illustrator. As they are handmade, they are quite pricey. A full village made of nine pillows costs $525 and individually they range from $145 for a large cushion down to $14 for the smaller animals.

Roddy & Ginger Sardana print

R&GSpanishVillage_Main_lg

This new Sardana print is another beautiful folk-art inspired design from Roddy & Ginger. It combines dancing figures, similar to those shown in their 'folkdance' print, with a view of the rooftops and towers of a Spanish village.

As well as the suitably Mediterranean orange/tan colour combination shown above it's also available in dark teal/olive. The print is sold unframed for £40.
