Ice Cream Van model kit from Finch and Fouracre

Ice cream kit

With the August bank holiday just a week away, here's a final taste of summer – an ice cream van kit from Finch and Fouracre

Finch and Fouracre are a Scottish based company who normally specialise in model of tenements houses and other architectural landmarks. Here they've turned their attention to a spot of summer whimsy, with a wonderfully retro ice cream van. The kits slot together so there's no need for glue and once that's done you can decorate the van with stickers, including the essential Mr Softie sign.

The kits have been made in limited numbers so, like the summer, make the most of it while it's still around. The kit costs £9.50.

Lottie Lion kids meal set from Too Much Too Young

LIONSET

As well as a song by The Specials, Too Much Too Young is now also the title of a company specialising in stuff for kids. As you'd expect from the name, all the goods have a retro feel, such as this Lottie Lion meal set

Made in the UK, the bone china cup and plate set all are decorated with the an illustration of a friendly lion, very much worked in a late 60s/70s style. If lions are still a little scary, they also sell sets featuring child friendly designs of trains, toadstools and elephants. Take a look at their website for games and reworked vintage items suitable for nurseries too.

All the items in this meal set are available to buy separately or you can get the whole lot for £30.

Snowden Flood Battersea toile fabric plate

Toile plate

This isn't the first time we've featured the iconic outline of Battersea power station and I doubt it will be the last. It's not the first time we've featured a Snowden Flood take on it either. However, the design is given a new twist with Snowden Flood's Battersea toile fabric plate

Unlike her usual designs, which normally feature a plain, colourful outline of the building, here she's gone much further back in the history of textiles for inspiration – to the eighteenth century no less – and filled the outline with a pretty pastoral toile pattern. The contrast works really well and hints at something of the long history of the Thames and its activities.

It's an unusual piece that costs £35.

Allsorts wallpaper

Allsorts wallpaper

This Allsorts wallpaper is an interesting find sure to sweeten up a kids room.

Bassets Liquorice Allsorts have a long and impressive heritage. Having been around since 1899, they're instantly recognisable. To add to this mix there's a bit of 1960s cultural history behind this wallpaper too: the design has been drawn by Robert Benson, the man behind Gonks. His original illustration has been scanned and printed onto the wallpaper to create a bright Pop effect worthy of the sixties.

It's available through I love design, priced at £350 for two rolls.

Marianne Westman Picknick design reissued

AlmedahlsMyGardenTray

There's a lot of classic 1950s and 60s designs being re-issued at the moment with Marianne Westman's Picknick another one to add to that long list.

Picknick was originally launched in 1956 and shows a variety of Scandinavian food stuffs laid out as if for, you guessed it, a picnic. The sketchy depiction of the food is typical for the period and still looks fresh and appealing today.

That's good news for Almedahls who've been given the licence to reproduce the design. As well as the tray shown, it's available on a cutting board, a pot stand, a tea towel and a canvas bag.

The range starts at $16 for the tea towel while this serving tray costs $36.
