eBay watch: 1970s Bedford CF ice cream van

Icecream

Bored of your office job? Crave a job that takes you along the highways and byways of our towns and cities? You need to bid for this 1970s Bedford CF ice cream van, then pick up a white coat. Job done.

Being sold because the owner is buying a new one (so obviously a bit of money in it), this is a 1976 van with a double glazed window for seeing straight into the lolly freezer, storage for 7x 5-litre tubs on the go (with room for another 20 tubs inside too) and an option to buy a whippy machine.

As a van, it's been upgraded with a new coil, exhaust, lights, battery and chrome wheel caps and is ready to to as soon as you've got the ices on ice. Downside? It's on the Isle of Wight, so you'll have to drive it back from there. Price is now £2,500, with a few days still to go.

I love London lunchbox

I love London lunchbox

More products featuring the iconography of London, with this I Love London lunchbox. You may remember the distinctive London tissue pack we featured a couple of weeks back, showing a retro-style illustration of a Routemaster bus and people queueing in line. That image has been used again here – to decorate the plastic lid of a lunchbox.

I've not been able to find out any more information about the illustration – whether it's a genuine image from the late 1950s or 60s or just the work of a skilled copy-cat. Whatever its provenance it remains a striking image and you may be pleased to hear it's now also available on a greeting card and on a doormat, as well as on the lunchbox.

The lunchbox costs £4.95.

Chelsea Flower Show collection at London Transport Museum

Chelsea flower show

Though it may have finished for another year the Chelsea Flower Show is still blooming as part of a new collection at the London Transport Museum.

The products are based around posters from the show dating from 1938 and 1939 by artists credited as 'T V Y' and 'Klara'. Both are suitably floral designs that have been adapted for a wide range of products, from the place mats pictured to t-shirts to, of course, a travel card holder.

Prices start at £4.95 going up to £24.95 for the place mats.

Formverket kitchenware

Formverket_annadoris_cboard1_380

Using Formica as a material is a simple short cut to a retro look in either a café or the home. Like Alison Milner's table, Formverket's kitchenware range is inspired by 1950s and 60s Formica table tops.

The collection is the work of Barbro Tryberg Boberg and includes trays, cutting boards and trivets, all covered with retro-inspired patterns. For example, the Anna/Doris board pictured is a two-sided cutting board with each side featuring a different distinctive pattern. It's made from HDF with a Formica laminate which means it's pretty durable as well as good-looking.

This cutting board costs $40 while trays and trivets are available for $28.

A while ago we wrote about Faber Firsts, new covers of classic Faber and Faber novels, done in styles that echoed the company's 80 years of publishing. Now you can go back to some of their original book jacket designs with these prints available at Art Meets Print

They've pulled out some gems from the Faber and Faber archive to reproduce, including this jacket design for 'Good Dishes from Tinned Foods' by Ambrose Heath, just one from the extensive food and drink section. There's also a selection of poetry covers available, featuring the original Pentagram designs.

Prices depending on the size of your print and whether you choose to have it on canvas or paper. They start at £34.95 for a 30 x 20cm print on canvas of one of the designs and go up to £299 for a 90 x 137.5cm canvas.

Retro candy floss maker by Giles and Posner

Candy floss

Got a sweet tooth that no amount of modern confectionery can satisfy? You may want to invest in this candy floss maker by Giles and Posner.

Much like the popcorn machine we featured a little while ago, it's a retro styled piece of gadgetry designed to serve up sweet old-fashioned treats. Not only does the machine spin caster sugar to cotton candy, it looks pretty nice too and is sure to fit into a kitchen as neatly as it would a diner.

The candy floss maker costs £35
