Lego Storage Heads and Storage Bricks

Lego1

Looking for something quirky for storing your bits and pieces? Check out these Lego Storage Heads and Storage Bricks.

Officially licensed by the Danish toys giant, the Storage Bricks are indeed shaped like a Lego brick and just like the bricks, can be clicked together to create giant Lego structures. So de-cluttering and giant Lego – what's not to like? But wait…it gets better…

There's also Lego Storage Heads, which operate in just the same way – room for storing your stuff and able to click together as part of the larger Lego structure. Both are available now from Firebox, the heads selling from £14.99 with the blocks in various colours from £8.99 to £24.99. See over the page for Head in action.

Vintage Fisher Price toys at Firebox

Fisher

I'm not sure whether these have been discontinued and been brought back, or have simply kept a low profile of late – but you can now get classic Fisher Price toys at Firebox, either for your kids or for your own journey back to childhood.

Yes, long before computers, consoles and digital TV, Fisher Price was offering technology to children in an altogether more simple form. The Chatter Telephone was introduced in 1962, teaching kids how to answer an old school phone, albeit one with a smiley face. The Two Tone TV Music Box hails from '66, playing tunes and scrolling stories, while the Teaching Clock, from 1968 does pretty much what it says.

But for us, the best of the bunch is the Turntable. Yes, turn your kids into vinyl junkies from an early age with this 1971 classic. Wind it up and play 5 records (10 tunes in total). You'll have a budding superstar DJ in no time. Prices vary from £14.99 to £29.99.

Pac-Man heat changing mug

Pacman_mug

If old arcade games (and hot drinks) are your thing, you might just like this Pac-Man heat changing mug.

An officially licensed product via Namco, the mug holds your hot drink and does something else – when a hot drink hits it, the characters and power-ups suddenly appear within the maze on the side. Presumably, when it cools, they go away again.

You can get one from Firebox, priced at £5.99.

Official Etch A Sketch case for Apple’s iPad

Etch_ipad

Got an iPad? Want to give it a retro twist? You need the official Etch A Sketch case.

Yes, you can turn your expensive Apple touchscreen tablet into a 50-year-old toy, courtesy of Headcase, with the added bonus of the case protecting your investment thanks to the impact-resistant plastic construction.

All your slots and switches are left exposed (should you be worried) and a retractable kick stands allow you to either lay your iPad flat, or angle it for use with the iPad keyboard. Want one? You can pick it up online for $39. Sadly those knobs at the bottom don't offer up added control. Oh well.

Lego Walkie Talkie set

Lego_walkie

Mobile phone a bit too 'new school' for you? The invest in something with a more retro feel – the Lego Walkie Talkie set.

Ok, there are limitations – you'll not be taken seriously in the boardroom for a start and of course, the 3,000ft range isn't going to be ideal when you need to make a long distance call. But or a bit of fun, you can't beat them.

In terms of features, both have volume controls, push-to-talk functions, a rear clip and that eye-catching Lego front. Powered by a couple of batteries, they sell for $28 from the US-version of Urban Outfitters, which now ships worldwide.

Lego Space Shuttle comes packed with 80s nostalgia

Lego_space

The NASA Space Shuttle project is only now coming to an end, but the design of the space plane is still very much an 80s icon – an icon you can have in your home if you invest in the Lego Space Shuttle.

Yes, that's right, this is the Lego version of a 20th century classic. Which obviously means you'll have to make it yourself. Not easy when it means clicking togehter 1,204 pieces to build the 17.5-inch model, which also boasts a 10-inch wingspan. But once you have made it, you'll be able to impress (or scare) your friends with the launch pad, detachable fuel tank, booster rockets, robot arm, retractable landing gear, opening cockpit with two mini astronauts (male and female), opening cargo compartment, satellite, and ground vehicle.

$100 is the US price. No word on a UK price as yet I'm afraid.
