eBay watch: Verner Panton Peacock Chair – Habitat limited reissue

Panton

Yes, I know we've featured this before, but the Habitat reissue of the Verner Panton Peacock Chair rarely comes up, so if well worth another mention.

If you missed it last time we featured it, the Peacock Chair dates back to 1969, with a design inspired by a peacock's tail. It's a stunning, attention-grabbing design, even as a reissue.

This reissue dates from 1999, when it was reissued in limited numbers and discontinued in less than a year. 12 years on and it has become a collector's piece in its own right. Condition is described as 'good' and has been 'carefully looked after'. Want it? Bidding is currently at £150.

Ella Doran Joanie Teaware for Habitat

900643
Ella Doran is becoming a regular feature of the UK high street thanks to her collaborations with various retailers, the latest of which is Habitat.

The Joanie range is inspired by Ella's personal collection of vintage tea plates, with family heirlooms and charity shop finds updated and re-imagined to create a distinctive pattern with a contemporary flavour.

The range incorporates everything you need to hold a stylish tea party; bone-china tea-cups and dessert plates, napkins and a table runner – a great reason to get an apron on and get baking.

eBay watch: 1970s Crayonne for Habitat space age ice bucket

Cray

Here's tip for you, add the word 'Crayonne' to your list of favoured eBay searches. Why? Well, in Habitat's formative years, Crayonne designs were sold in the stores, offering an affordable twist on period space age design. We featured one example last week and this Crayonne for Habitat space age ice bucket is another.

Examples of this design are currently being offered for £20+ on 'buy it now' deals, but this one is much more affordable at the price as I write. For your money, you get a simple and stylish ice bucket, complete with lid, liner and original 'Crayonne made in England' sticker on base plus embossed logo.

£7.99 right now, but keep an eye on the brand for other items in a similar style.

eBay watch: 1970s Crayonne Moon space age table lamp

Crayonne

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the design, but I like what I see in this Crayonne Moon table lamp.

Crayonne is the maker and if the cryptic listing reads correctly, it was sold in Habitat in the mid-1970s. Turned off and it's a cool piece of period design, turn it on and you get a rather nice glow.

It's made of white plastic with a chrome strip to the side and is described as being in 'vintage working condition'. Still some time to go, it's currently up for £1.

eBay watch: Habitat reissue of the 1960s Verner Panton Peacock Chair

Peacock

In its day, the Verner Panton Peacock Chair was a stunning and eye-catching design, so much so that Habitat reissued the chair for a very short period in the 1990s. It's one of those reissues that you'll find on eBay right now.

Dating back to 1969, the chair has the look of a peacock's fan-like tail, with a galvanised white metal frame hosting seven red circular wool cushions. It's a space age classic, guaranteed to set off any room.

According to the seller, the condition is 'very good', although the cushions might need a dry clean from general wear. £199 is both the starting and current price for it, much less than the Habitat reissue cost at the time.
