Retro candy floss maker by Giles and Posner

Candy floss

Got a sweet tooth that no amount of modern confectionery can satisfy? You may want to invest in this candy floss maker by Giles and Posner.

Much like the popcorn machine we featured a little while ago, it's a retro styled piece of gadgetry designed to serve up sweet old-fashioned treats. Not only does the machine spin caster sugar to cotton candy, it looks pretty nice too and is sure to fit into a kitchen as neatly as it would a diner.

The candy floss maker costs £35

Heals sale starts – up to 50 per cent off

Mistral

We love a sale, especially when the retailer has some tasty retro items in it. Like the Heals sale.

Actually it's called the 'Spring Home Event', but it's much the same, with up to 50 per cent off its range. To be honest, we haven't found much to get our pulses racing with the full discount, but there is a good selection of items marked down, from retro-style Newgate clocks to larger items like the Mistral sofa and armchair range (pictured above).

We have featured these midcentury-inspired gems previously and if you like those 50s-style looks, they're now available with a price cut – the armchiars at £876 (from £1,095), the sofas at £1,436 (from £1,795). Check those out and all the other sale items online now.

Heals retro-styled Blyton picnic hamper

Picnic1

Ok, we'll admit it – we planned on featuring this as the perfect Easter accessory prior to the Easter weekend. Unfortunately the weather has turned a little, so you might want to wait a bit before using the Heals Blyton picnic hamper.

But when the sun does come out, this vintage-style kit will certainly turn heads in the open country. Designed for two people, it offers that red tin shell with a removable willow tray, along with a selection of suitable accessories – two ceramic mugs, two ceramic plates, two knife and fork sets, two embroidered cotton napkins, salt and pepper cruets, 1a mini insulated flask, a cotton plate bag and a cotton cutlery bag.

You can see that in more detail over the page and if you want one, Heals sells it online – £85 is the price.

Heal’s antique selling exhibition

Heals antique sale

We've already featured quite a few of the products and projects Heal's have lined up to celebrate their bicentenary. If you're based near London and have an interest in their fine furniture heritage, you may want to pop along to their latest event, an antique selling exhibition

Launched on Sunday at the Tottenham Court Road store it features Heal's furniture ranging from the Arts and Crafts period up to the 1950s. The examples pictured above all date from the 1930s with the exception of the cupboard which was made in the 1920s.

No indication of prices but they are likely to be pretty pricey. However, if you fancy a visit to get some inspiration from original good quality pieces, the exhibition is on until 3 April.
