1950s-style Eloise bedlinen from House of Fraser

Eloise
This Eloise bedlinen, available from House of Fraser, is a contemporary design but looks like it has come straight from the 1950s.

The design, made by Sheridan, is a colourful design, covered with abstract shapes. It's definitely got the look of some of the artist's textiles of the Fifties, especially the work of someone like Marian Mahler. There's a pattern on the reverse too, all printed onto 100% cotton.

More interesting than your average bedlinen, prices start at £19 for a pillowcase.

Linea Adelphi midcentury-style armchair at House of Fraser

Adelphi

Yes, yet another midcentury-inspired design from the current House of Fraser range – the Adelphi armchair.

It's a classic armchair that takes the 1950s for its inspiration and is exclusive to the House of Fraser store. For your money, you get that high back, slightly curved arms, stained and angled legs plus a finish in a lime green fabric. Good back support too apparently, if that's important to you.

It was £399, but £299 is the current price.

Midcentury-inspired Linea Grace armchair at House of Fraser

Grace

Yes, it's another retro-inspired gem from the current House of Fraser range, specifically the Linea Grace armchair.

This time, we're in the world of the single seat, this being a mini wing chair if you like, with a flared back and slightly angled arms, as well as a buttoned back, stained and angled conical legs, plus a wood subtract frame and traditional webbed seat platform. All of that is finished in what is described as an 'aubergine' fabric.

Like most of the furniture at House of Fraser, this midcentury gem is discounted right now, down from £399 to a current price of £299.

Deco-style Zeta lamp by Pied a Terre

Zeta lamp
We've featured quite a few space age lighting designs this week. For lighting that looks to another era and another style, take a look at this Zeta lamp by Pied a Terre

It's a unusual table lamp that apparently draws inspiration from the Art Deco era and it's certainly a glamorous object, full of angles and reflective surfaces that are typical of that style. However, I can't help feeling that their take on Deco has been filtered through '70s design too. The mixture of chrome and smoked acrylic rods used in the lamp reminds me of another glamorous style – seventies disco.

Whatever your take on the lamp, it costs £120.

Linea midcentury-style Harry sofa at House of Fraser

Harry_sofa

At the back end of last year, we featured the rather stylish Harry armchair. But now we've discovered its big brother – the Linea Harry sofa at House of Fraser. Best of all? This midcentury-inspired gem is heavily-discounted right now.

Available as a two-seater or a three-seater (pictured above), the Harry sofa has bags of 1950s charm, from its curved arms and back through to its angled conical legs, not to mention the stylish buttoned back. There's also a wood frame, traditional webbed seating and a finish in Vence lime green fabric.

It's only available online and as we said earlier, it's discounted heavily. The two-seater is £399 (from a previous price of £699) and the three-seater is £499, down from £899. Presumably that is while stocks last.
