For sale: 1970s four-bedroomed house in Crowborough, East Sussex

Crow1

When we feature houses, we try and work a fine line between the high-end designs (out of reach for most of us) and more affordable properties with an interesting retro twist. This 1970s four-bedroomed house in Crowborough, East Sussex is an example of the latter.

'Pine Trees' (as it is known) was actually built in 1970 and still has the same owner, which also means plenty of period features and the same distinctive shape of the era. Whether that remains is open to question – we can see someone loving this or completely gutting it, building something new that takes advantage of the land's fine views.

For sale: Four-bedroom 1920s art deco house in Truro, Cornwall

Deco1

If you fancy relocating yourself down to Cornwall, we might have the perfect house for you – this four-bedroom art deco house in Truro, Cornwall.

Originally built in the 1920s as a single-story property, the house was enlarged over two floors and to four bedrooms by the current owners. Not that you would notice unless you were familiar with the original – the ground floor keeps much of the architectural detail, while the upper floor has been designed to reflect the original design.

1930s Triangtois art deco dolls house up for auction at Boldon Auction Galleries

Deco1

Some time back, we highlighted the Lundby midcentury-style dolls houses and furniture, examples of which can often be found on eBay. But here's something that's much harder to find – a 1930s Triangtois art deco dolls house.

It's up for auction at Boldon Auction Galleries, which is in the Newcastle area. Don't worry – you can absentee bid if you want it and don't happen to be local. We suspect fans of art deco housing just might, a superb period miniature house with plenty of detail, right down to fireplaces and light fittings.

Yes, it needs a bit of work, but with a guide price of between £50 and £80, it's not a lot for something we suspect is incredibly rare. See the interior over the page, with the auction taking pace on 16th March 2011.

House Industries x Heath Ceramics Eames house numbers

Eames1

This is something of a 'coming soon', but these House Industries x Heath Ceramics Eames house numbers are coming very soon.

Yes, those nasty brass house numbers on your outer wall can be converted into something that's both midcentury and utterly cool, a range of numbers using the Eames Century Modern font, sized at 6 x 6 inches (so pretty big) and printed on clay tiles with a matte glazed finish.

They'll be available in late spring directly from the Heath site, priced at $45 each. Another shot over the page.

For sale: 1950s Erno Goldfinger-designed Wellesley House property in Broadstairs, Kent

Erno1

We usually feature huge art deco, midcentury or modernist architectural masterpieces on these pages, great to look at, but pretty much always unaffordable to all of us. Well, here is a semi-detached house that's firmly in the 'affordable' bracket for more of us – but it's also an Erno Goldfinger-designed Wellesley House property in Broadstairs, Kent.

In truth, the designer and the history of the house are actually more interesting than the property, but just think…you can tell the world your home was designed by a modernist legend. How cool would that be?

Umbra Condolisa Side Table – in the shape of a modernist house

Mod_house

One of our more popular recent posts was the Umbra Fishcondo, which was a fish bowl shaped like a modernist house. Well, not only is there a version for your goldfish, but there's a similar design for you to enjoy now, with the Umbra Condolisa Side Table.

As you might have guessed, it's by the same design team of Luong & Cheng, this time offering up a larger version of the modernist-inspired dwelling, as well as a version that has frosted acrylic cut-out windows within the high gloss wooden structure, plus some shelves for your bits and pieces. It also has a removable lid for last-minute hiding of your living room rubbish at short notice.

A new design for 2011 and standing around 48cm tall, it sells for £216.
