Hans Wegner influenced Bojne chair from Ikea

Bojne

We recently showed you Ikea's Stockholm floor lamp, which looked like it had been influenced by the work of Arne Jacobsen. Their Bojne chair also looks like it has taken its cue from classic Danish design, this time the work of Hans Wegner.

Specifically, the distinctive shape of the chair back is reminiscent of Wegner's CH20 design for Carl Hansen & Son, also known as the Elbow chair. That chair was designed back in 1956 but only went into production a couple of years ago.

Arne Jacobsen-like Ikea Stockholm floor lamp

Ikea_aj

Just browsing the current Ikea range and noticed this design, which reminded us of something. After a bit of thinking, we realised what it was – the Ikea Stockholm floor lamp almost certainly takes inspiration from the classic Arne Jacobsen AJ floor lamp, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The similarities are obvious – the circular base, skinny angled stem and the conical head. Of course, the original has a little more panache about it, as well as more detail, but the Ikea version gets the look for a whole lot less.

Available in three finishes (black, white and nickel-plated), the Ikea lamp is made of aluminium and steel, standing 140cm high and using LEDs, which means 80 per cent less energy and lasting 25 times longer than an incandescent bulb. Price? £86.81.

These stickers are suitable for using on tiles so – if they're to your taste – they're perfect for brightening up a kitchen.

The stickers cost £5.99.
