Dahlgren cards

If you're a regular reader of this site, you'll instantly recognise the art on these cards from IKEA as the handy work of Maria Holmer-Dahlgren

We're quite infatuated with her Pop art style designs, be they for London or Stockholm. These cards feature five of your favourite Swedish cities, all depicted in her trademark style. Perfect for framing and adding instant colour to your home.

Best of all is the price, as a pack of all five designs costs just £2.50.

The cards are available in-store only, you can find out more details on the IKEA website

Jonathan Adler Relief Drip ceramic lamp

Adler_lamp

The Isamu Noguchi lamps of the 1950s have certainly been an inspiration for many modern-day pieces, even from the likes of Ikea. So it's no surprise to see the look turning up again – with a twist – in the Jonathan Adler Relief Drip ceramic lamp.

The profile is very much the same – that usual bulbous shade and tripod-style base, this time in polished nickel. But this is no paper shade, the one here is an unglazed translucent porcelain with perforations, a 150-watt bulb making sure the lamp emits a strong glow from within.

Available directly from the Jonathan Adler site, price is $295.

Micke desk from Ikea

Micke desk

Like a stripped back modernist style for your office? Well, for the look without the price tag, you might like the Micke desk from Ikea.

While it's certainly not the polished wood and gleaming aluminium you'd normally associate with the style (this one is made from a combination of fibreboard and plastic), it's certainly got the clean Bauhaus lines. It's also got the modern advantage of having cable outlets and compartments built into the design. And, if you need more storage, there are more units that can be purchased to be added on.

It's one of those budget designs that Ikea is so famous for, costing just £65.

Available in-store only, you can see it online here.

Ulsberg 50s-style bedside table from Ikea

Ulsberg
Grab yourself a high street bargain with a retro look with the Ulsberg bedside table from Ikea

Although this design is intended for use in the bedroom, it's got a similar feel to this genuine 50s plant stand we featured a few weeks back. And, while you could probably also use this one for a plant, there's plenty of space for an alarm clock, reading matter and other bedside essentials too.

The table is available either in white and frosted glass or, for the more 50s look pictured, in dark grey and frosted glass.

You can buy it in-store for a very reasonable £19.99.

Skruvsta swivel armchair at Ikea

Swiv

A retro-styled chair with a retro cloth cover – and the Skruvsta swivel armchair at Ikea doesn't cost a fortune.

Love that 60s-style 'tub' shape and of course, the option to swivel, courtesy of the steel frame. But that Krokek fabric, reminiscent of midcentury Scandinavian design, really finishes things off.

If you don't like it, plain finishes are available too, but all are priced the same – £79.99.
